In my honest opinion, I was ripped off. So I visited Automotive Solutions a few months ago and have left this review for a little while just because I was so annoyed at the experience and I didn't want to say anything too harsh. However ... here we are. It was late and I was travelling through York (on a 100+ mile journey). Part way through the journey, all my engine management lights came up and - as I hadn't seen this before - I panicked and stopped. Googled wherever was nearest and still open. As it happened, this place was just a few minutes' drive away. Called them, explained situation, they said they were still open and I could come by. I arrived, they plugged something into the front console near the steering wheel and within two minutes were able to reassure me it was apparently something that could wait till I reached my destination. Within five minutes, I was ready to go. I went over to pay for their time: £80. Eighty. Eight zero. For five minutes' work (tops). Now I get it: time, experience, training, all goes into those numbers. I get that these guys have years behind them. But here's the thing: £20, £30, I wouldn't balk at, but £80 for 5 mins works out just shy of an hourly rate of £500. Even the most highly paid professionals (bar lawyers perhaps) don't reach that rate. To be clear: this was one run of a diagnostics test only. There were no interventions made, nothing fixed, just a word that the diagnostics were showing the issue could be left till I reached my destination. You'll see from my profile that I don't review people online, but this was just singly such an egregious rip-off in my honest opinion that I'm posting this here for others to see. Avoid. Edit: I've uploaded a screenshot from my bank statement evidencing it was in fact £81, not £80.
