Simply lovely! Charming room - ours was in the back building. Minor challenges - no air conditioning, which would have helped on the warm, humid night and very weak wifi. Everything else was wonderful. The lounge, the conservatory where we had a delightful dinner, to the well appointed breakfast the following morning. Paid off street parking - a necessity in this busy town. All around delightful.

They charge 15 pounds for parking unless u book through their website, but the booking portion of the website is always down... the front reception actually gave me the wrong direction to my room which was ok. Breakfast was average. The place itself was very nice decorated.

This hotel has great potential as it’s in a perfect location, however they really miss the mark on many things and don’t quite make it even for a 3 star rating. The rooms are very worn and old. The bed I slept in had questionable bugs on the sheets. The food served in the restaurant gave me the runs not even an hour after I’d eaten and considering I hadn’t eaten in the previous 24 hours I had no doubt as to what had caused this, and the food prices were too steep for what they were serving. I was woken up by a faulty fire alarm at 6 am, then by 7.40 again by the Gardner or grounds person using a leaf blower in the car park - this is an unreasonable thing to use at a hotel before ten am!!!! You have no idea what your guests are using your hotel for, some of them may be really needing to just get some rest - something fire alarms and leaf blowers just won’t give you, it it was after ten am I could understand but 6 am and 7.40 am is just unacceptable really. I work in the hospitality industry myself so I know what should and should not be taking place. You guys have a lot to improve on. I cannot recommend this hotel and would strongly advise booking elsewhere I’d you want peace, quiet, and food that won’t give you the runs. Also there are no lifts, so you have a steep hike up four flights if you are on the top, they charge you £15 for parking if you book through anywhere online but it’s free I’d you book through the hotel, they advertise things falsely such as the bedrooms having baths when then some of them don’t, especially the single rooms, and they say there is a 24 hour reception when it’s just manned til midnight. Oh and a manageress that has absolutely no idea how to deal with guest complaints. A real winner.

Good Location. However disappointed to find that Bed and Breakfast was in fact continental breakfast. English Breakfast was extra, which I felt was very misleading.

Wonderful service and delicious food. The soup could have been hotter. But the roast main course was amazing. Lovely surroundings. The people who served our group were very swift and cheerful. Delicious coffee as well. Would recommend you to everyone.

If I was a contestant on Four In A Bed I would be ripping this place apart. I didn’t book here I booked the Ashley Hotel owned by the same company where I have stayed before. The Ashley is cheaper and very nice. However I was relocated here as the Ashley wasn’t able to be open. I wasn’t unhappy about this. What did surprise was my room here was identical to the cheaper room I would have had at the Ashley! Does having a bar and restaurant on site really merit the extra cost? There was no Welcome Folder in the room, to which my brief details from reception told me to refer. The safe in my room had a label saying “Broken”. The flush on the loo was temperamental. The fan in the bathroom was very loud - as it was in all the surrounding rooms. The WiFi was even more temperamental than the flush. Barely according a signal at best. BUT the bed was really comfortable and I got a good night’s sleep. The breakfast buffet was exceptional. And the Full English included with my deal was very good. I cook breakfasts for a living and this was up there with what I serve (hash browns and sausages not as good but bacon better). Given it was really bed and breakfast I was after I can’t really complain.

Parking is free at the back of the hotel (found along the side of the hotel with a red bar for height restrictions). Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Had a family room with a lovely view onto Jesus Green. Continental breakfast (selection of cereals, toast with 3 types of bread, croissants/pastries, fresh cut fruit (pineapple/melons), orange/grapefruit juice/cold water, tea/coffee in insulated jugs but not able to select type of tea/coffee, slices of cheese/ham) was included but have to pay £9.95 for a cooked breakfast. Would have liked cold milk for cereal. Our rooms were fine but need cobwebs removing around windows, etc..
