Today at 9.50am my husband took out money from The Halifax cashpoint at 38 Southgate Street, Bath. I then went inside to ask if I could change a £10 for a £5 note and 5 x £1 coins as even in a pandemic, you still need some change! Not every machine in the country has been calibrated to accept credit cards. The Bath Halifax was empty apart from a cashier and a blonde haired woman employee. The woman asked what I wanted and I politely explained. She asked if I banked with the Halifax and I truthfully said I didn't. She then said I needed to go to my own bank for change. She asked who I banked with and I answered with Nat West. She said Nat West was only a short distance away! Sadly, as I need a new hip, walking back even a short distance wasn't possible this morning. So....I felt like a naughty schoolgirl even though I'm in my late sixties. I felt patronised by someone who knows nothing about me. This was so unhelpful and will be remembered. If I was going into the branch asking for bags of change I could understand it....but change for £10...really? Perhaps this woman would be better on back room tasks that don't involve customers! Take your customer elsewhere. Don't bank here. They are unfriendly and unhelpful and are not here to help as their advert states!

September 2020. Back to the bad old days of short banking hours. Weekdays only, shuts at 3. I know COVID19 restricts opening times, but the Swindon and Reading branches are open on Saturday mornings and weekdays till 5, and even Chippenham manages to stay open till 3.30 Mon-Fri. Why are the Halifax' Bath customers being short-changed?

staff lie about trivial matters, service is slow, they NEVER answer the phone.. infact I've even become so annoyed in the past that ive gone as far as to phone from outside whilst the branch was empty just to see if they are simply ignoring calls and guess what.. they just hang up and continue to chat amongst themselves despite having no customers .. the staff at this branch require a serious review and retraining .. it's unacceptable.
