HAKKA Chinese Seafood Restaurant cambridge

4 of us had an excellent meal on Saturday evening. Lots of really delicious dishes and the service was superb. It was a bit of a wait for the first course to arrive, but not a big problem. Highly recommended!

Well cooked and delicious food. The place looks tired from the outside but it is what happens inside that counts. Extensive menu although, on the night we went, none if the the set menus were available.

What an amazing meal. I looked at the mussel appetizer and was concerned at the price. It was false worry. It was as good as I have ever tasted. For the main I went for the Hakka special noodles. I asked for it to come with chillies and was not disappointed. All the meat was perfect, the veg was fresh and beautifully cooked. I was the only person in and had their whole attention but I don't think it would matter. I would recommend in a heartbeat.

20min from Cambridge city center but it was a nice walk though. Chef Chang from Hong Kong runs the business all by himself that’s why you might expect the food to be served a little bit slower, but he offered very reasonable recommendations (and he’s humorous!), and the foods were great, very fresh seafoods- fish and pawns, delicious tofu and vegetable, juicy steak etc. Overall, we had a great time there, will definitely recommend it!

I would give -5 stars if I could. This meal cost us £70 including ridiculous service and tea charge for each person. The food quality wasn't even that good, and you can get the same experience for £20 with more food in a takeaway. The manager/waiter/chef was running the whole place on his own on friday evening (likely no one wants to work there with him!) and luckily we were the first ones there, otherwise there would be a 3hr+ wait before getting any food on the table. We tried to order more food because the portions were small but he refused to take orders because more customers came in. The sign of the restaurant is broken and gone, the manager you can tell is extremely cheap and selfish - not even offering hot water because he says it would crack the glass...what? The restaurant also received a 0 star hygiene rating in food standards agency not surprisingly reported in local newspaper. Due to positive reviews on trip advisor and recommendation from friend a while back, I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt, but never again. Avoid this place like the plague. This place should be closed down based on what I've seen today. Hakka seafood? More like hack your wallet and leave hungry. We had to go to a takeaway next door after the meal.

Oooh lovely place - worth a walk out of town centre! Daniel is a fantastic chef and host ! We had Mongolian lamb and then the black cod which was superb ! Great wine selection too! (and whisky) we will be returning!

Omg we didn't even take any photos of the food we ate as it was so delicious we literally inhaled the lot. We eat at some amazing restaurants and this was some of the best. Everything was a 10/10. Honestly you can't go wrong. Even the egg fried rice was amazing. I highly recommend the chilli salt squid and the chicken In black bean. The restaurateur was super attentive kind and funny. The food is 5star fresh and delicious.

I am sorry to leave one star which I normally won't. The waitor took our order said that he is the only one running the restaurant that night. From waitor to chef to cashier. So, we need to take all the order in one go, which is fine. Then, after we ordered, he told us there are £25 minimum charge per person including children. We went through the menu again and found the clause in first page but the minimum amount is £15 instead. I told the waitor and he said it is inflation but he will let go this time. After one hour wait for the food, it turned out not taste good. In short, you may want to check if they have enough staff when u book. And you are fine with the minimum charge.

Daniel the owner of this restaurant is superhuman, runs a wonderful place with wonderful food. We were staying in Cambridge for few days and went here due to the good reviews and were not disappointed, very large plates of food cooked by Daniel freshly and incredible prices. we both had chicken starters and I had braised duck and chinese mushrooms, unfortunately I could not finish it as soo much. Please support this local independent restaurant. Keep up the good work Daniel.

Dreadful restaurant avoid at all costs, if I could give it 0 I would. I booked a table turned up and waited 10mins before any staff appeared in the restaurant. When we were sat down by what appeared to be a chef, we were told “have a look at the menu, whilst we get you a table ready”. Looked at the menu and there is a £2 charge if you don’t spend £25 or more “per person” on food and then there is also a mandatory £3.50 service charge. My wife and I looked around other tables were waiting all with empty plates & glasses. We left after 5mins and went down the road for takeaway.
