Denzil Skinner & Partners edinburgh

I found Amanda and Denzil via my Google search while looking for someone to create a particular style of ring. I had some pieces of jewellery that I didn't wear and wanted them to be remodelled into a new cocktail ring. Amanda, using her knowledge and skill produced a number of drawings using my existing pieces. My ring, which Denzil hand delivered to me in London this week, has been handmade to the highest standard by craftsman in the UK. It's a real leap of faith commissioning something as one never quite knows what's going to pop out at the other end but my ring has completely surpassed my expectations and it's been a pleasure to deal with such knowledgeable professionals. I would highly recommend them.

My father gave me an ornate diamond and sapphire necklace as a wedding present, which lived in a safe because it was never quite suitable for what I needed. Denzil and Amanda skilfully redesigned and remodelled it into two separate pieces which were much more usable: a simpler pendant necklace, with a sapphire and diamond cluster at its heart, and a pair of beautiful diamond drop earrings which I now love wearing in the evening. Separately, we gave them some inherited pieces to remodel: an emerald and diamond ring and two pairs of earrings - one sapphire, one emerald, both set with diamonds and too ornate to wear daily. Their solution was to take the small diamonds from the earrings and combine them with the stones from the ring, to create a dazzling new cocktail ring with a lovely, contemporary feel. He then used the coloured stones to create simple but beautiful new stud earrings, which can be worn every day. With his great depth of knowledge and skill, Denzil and Amanda succeeded in redesigning this inherited jewellery without losing any of its innate character, beauty and charm, making it wearable and contemporary - even for the next generation. The whole process felt seamless and rather exciting.

I have had the mixed pleasure of having three magnificent signet rings made by Denzil. Mixed, because I only have two sons and one managed to loose his within three weeks of getting it! All three have been quite fabulous and they wear them with pride. Made on time and on budget. Given that I didn't give Denzil much time, that was quite an achievement. I would most definitely return to DS and Partners for any further commissions. Thanks for the attention to detail and rapid response.
