Volunteering at ywam base was a good experience for me, but the teaching on dts was in my opinion very lacking. I think the idea of a dts, to give students a chance to mature as Christians is a good goal. But there is no depth of understanding of human development. And because of the immature understanding, the ideas presented are misguided, and do not work in the real world. If you want something to help you in life, I would recommend seeking a discipleship program elsewhere, and give the dts a miss. I gave the review 2 starts because I liked the people when I was there. Many of them have big hearts.

What to say about YWAM Townsville... Well, from friendly staff to life changing speakers and the infamous DTS, this base has a LOT going for it. Working with and on the medical ship was a privilege and anyone hesitating about doing a DTS should stop. Just do it. This base allows personal growth and is one of the main reasons that I am able to now live my life to the fullest. Community and a common goal.
