Excellent little game old world pub serving a decent selection of well kept local ales and good traditional pub grub. The staff are really friendly helpful and have been working tirelessly throughout the lockdown. At our last visit it was table service only and so popular is the pub that people were being turned away. That said service is excellent and we never waited long to be served . Rooms are quaint, old world again, ours had the biggest shower we’ve ever seen. Definitely recommend a stay at very reasonable prices.

Staff gave an incredibly warm and friendly welcome. Family of 5 arriving at 8pm with 2 dogs, super hospitality, food is of amazing quality and great portion sizes. Left very full and happy. Will definitely head here next time. Wouldn’t eat anywhere else in Castleton now to be honest. Perfect - 5*. Well done - and don’t change a thing! Very happy customers!

Great food served in generous portions. If you're one with a small appetite, the portions can be shared. The ambience is nice and cozy and the pub is perfect for chilling out after a long hike at Mam Tor. Some tips: 1. Book a table ahead. As you can imagine, Castleton is a small town with a handful of food places that get booked fast. Reserve a table at this popular spot to avoid disappointment. Call them to get a swift response re your booking. 2. Book a room here as well if you're planning a weekend in Castleton. The location is great and very accessible. The last thing you want after a long hike is to keep walking from your b&b to the restaurant or pub. Also, the location is accessible enough if you don't have a car.

We were disappointed by the food and the service. Went for Sunday Roast and the staff didn’t know if the meat was from local farmers or not, didn’t know what pieces of meat they had. We decided not to risk it and had a couple of burgers. The meat on the Beef burger wasn’t good and the chicken burger seemed to be cooked hours before we ate it, same with the fries, seemed to be heated in the microwave before served. Only a couple of friendly members of staff. It’s a nice pub in a lovely location with a cozy fireplace. It would be great if they trained staff to know what they’re serving and provide information about where their produce comes from.

If you like good beer get yourself a seat in this pub!! Make sure you order a beer board with all the beers on it! Sit back and enjoy!! We made room for some food as well, that was also great pub food. Don't know who is responsible for selecting the beers on tap but I take my hat off to them as they are a great selection. Second time I have made a visit and I have not been disappointed.

Fab pub for food and beer in Castleton! We ate there first night of our weekend and we were lucky to get a seat. Great selection of beers, wide selection of home cooked foods. On the second day we got a seat by the fire with a drink, absolutely gorgeous on a snowy day. Would definitely recommend going!
