Rooms were war, very clean and spacious. The food and beer were well priced and pleasant enough. This isn't a high end venue but rather represents good honest food, bed and board for a good honest price. The two recommendations I have are firstly to have a few more ales to choose from and secondly to have some better cheeses for the cheese board. I'd stay again and recommend it to other outdoor enthusiasts looking for a warm place to stay in Castleton. The covid measures have been well followed.

Lovely pub, a lot of tables and great social distancing measures. Staff very friendly and professional, great welcome. Good selection of beers and food looks very popular, best to book a table in advance. Very clean and nice atmosphere. No beer garden but that’s not a major issue. Wonderful pub in Castleton a beautiful part of the Derbyshire Peak District, perfect for a great pint and a tasty meal. Great value for money and will be visiting again soon.

Brilliant little weekend away in Castleton staying at the Cheshire Cheese. Super friendly and helpful staff, despite being incredibly busy. Room was much better than we expected, double bed was nice and comfy. Food was excellent! Breakfast both mornings was brilliant, quick and tasty. Had food on the last night, also really tasty. Pub was super busy but to be expected there. Would recommend for a nice little weekend away!

New year's Day evening. Dinner menu very good. Imy mom had a small scampi and chips which was lovely. Wife had pie and mash which was also great. I had mixed grill. Probably the BEST mixed grill I have had but... The steak was terrible and tough. Shame. Even though. Still it was one of the best.

Great friendly service from all staff. Called in on the off chance for a pub lunch today was shown to a table quickly and had a very tasty Sunday roast. We had a booking at another pub which we cancelled and ate here instead so pleased we did. We will definitely return and would recommend.
