The small plate concept was a pleasant surprise for us. The whole menu tempted us so we basically ordered and tried everything. Except for crab...apparently, they were out so no crab scotch eggs or crab fries. A favorite of mine was the scotch bonnet salmon (head and shoulders above other salmon dishes we had in Scotland). Other stand-outs were the monkfish satay, the mussels (ask for extra bread), and the charred octopus. As a couple, we were split on the beef & oyster. My wife didn't care for the rump steak while I preferred it to the oysters. I guess that's why sharing small plates works so well. The wine list was limited but priced quite reasonably.

Shared a lovely meal here with my partner which we booked on short notice, and changed the time of on even shorter notice. Food was all brilliant, would highly recommend the oysters, mussels and octopus in particular. The oysters were great value and served exactly as I like them with lemon, pickled shallots and Tabasco. Only thing that let them down was the drinks, the only beer they had was Guinness which is probably the least suitable beer for seafood. They had plenty of taps advertising other stuff but none were on at the time, they also had no bottles of beer/cider. I appreciate most people will drink wine when eating seafood but for those of us who don’t drink wine it would be ideal to have more beer section. Staff were great and would give 4.5 stars if I could. Will almost certainly be back next time we’re in Edinburgh.

Fantastic service, freshest food good wine, what’s not to like. Happy hour from 4-5pm where oysters are only £1 each. The crab-crusted scotch egg is to die for. Shame the octopus which char-grilled to perfection, compliments to the chef, we’re very small. Definitely recommend and will go again when I return to Scotland.

The team is great! The bartender is attentive and outgoing, the waiters took the time to speak English slowly (because we are French). We recommend this restaurant which for us (tourists) is the best seafood restaurant in Edinburgh. Thank you to them for a great birthday party.

5/ 5

The oysters were spectacularly good. We also made our way through the majority of the small plates menu and the quality ranged from excellent to fabulous. The wine list was strong and the cocktails were classy and prepared with skill and care. The service was friendly, efficient and unpretentious. I thought it was great. Highly recommended.
