I came for a gym session yesterday evening. For a hotel gym it is very well equipped with a nice pool area as well. Both staff were very pleasant, especially the older tattooed chap who took the time to show me some alternative exercises and helped me understand my training far better. Amazing experience and I will definitely be back.

An ideal pool (not seen prior to refurb) and the gym has a good range of equipment but due to the size becomes an issue to use when its busy (any more then 5 people really, especially if your there for strength training). What let's it down are the change facilities - needs a refurbishment and a deep, deep clean. A shame really as it is an ideal spot and obviously has quite a few long time members.

Hot tub warning to follow!! Nice enough facilities. Very clean and the local club members were very friendly and happy to have a chat. Good size leisure pool, with sauna, steam room and hot tub. Hot tub is a little small (max 5 and that would be too cosy!) but the jets were really good and it was a lovely temperature (if not a little too warm on the first evening). No water cooler poolside so take your own bottle to fill up in the gym next door! However, on the first late afternoon spent in the hot tub and other facilities. We noticed that my swimming costume had been badly bleached by the levels of chlorine in the hot tub and we couldn't spend longer than approx 10 mins in it as it was affecting our eyes each time. I did mention this the man behind the desk who insinuated it was due to the fact it was a bathing costume and not a swimming costume. He did look at what I assumed to be a sheet behind the desk and said "the chlorine levels are normal" and just shrugged off my complaint. He didn't seem like he was going to recheck the levels at that time. Feeling a little let down by this response, I spoke to the man behind the reception who was much more responsive about my concern and promptly took a photo of my costume to show the health club manager the next day and assured me the chlorine would be checked again. The next morning, the hot tub was closed and you could see rigorous testing of the hot tub prior to its reopening after about 2 hours. Unfortunately, noone approached me about the issue despite seeing the initial man that I complained to was back on shift... Turns out HE was the health club manager!! Needless to say I saw no point in talking to him about it again. Would have been nice to have received a proper apology especially since my swimming costume is absolutely ruined. The below swimming costume was navy blue originally as you can see by the patches which remain.
