I am biased it was my home from 91 until 2002 I worked with some great guys and girls we really did the business 24/7. We had our own bar in the station and the commaraderery with colleagues was amazing. We invited the local residents in for functions and it was free to hire. They were great days which sadly were lost when Bettison arrived. He got shut of canteens and bars.

Trying to report a stolen car. 5 calls so far. Without success. Iv Had phone hung up cos i did not want to wait 40 mins to report it . Also reported it to officer personally, she replied what , what , before driving off. Lackof investment at govt level ?

I am biased it was my home from 91 until 2002 I worked with some great guys and girls we really did the business 24/7 We had our own bar in the station and the commaraderery with colleagues was amazing. We invited the local residents in for functions and it was free to hire. They were great days which sadly were lost when a Chief Constable Bettison arrived. He got shut of the canteens and bars. The canteen culture he called it. It was a place to discuss the sudden deaths, somewhere to talk about various things you had encountered and to gain knowledge from experienced professionals. After that it was a sandwich in a supermarket if you were lucky. I had some three years on nights on foot patrol in all weather, walking around the local areas. It doesn't happen anymore and will never return. When I joined there were 4900 Cops plus thousands of civilians. I think the current numbers are 3600 with civilians a quarter of what existed. The mathematics of numbers of Police to the number of jobs reported via call centres means 1100 fewer officers and the jobs do not get cleared/investigated like in years past. I loved what I did it was a vocation. I'm not so sure it is to some these days the stories I see and hear.
