Impossible to use

I cannot order repeat prescriptions as their phone lines are booked up, and I cannot get through to a doctor at all. I have been with the practice for 7 years and I am now moving as they no longer function as a working GP.

Fantastic surgery, fantastic staff, thumbs up to reception for dealing with all the ignorant rude people that I have stood behind at the surgery reception and had to listen to complain and actually be aggressive towards them, handled professionally, yes sometimes you can't see the Dr you want, but if your sick enough then you would see anyone, all the Dr's r great, yes scripts are 48 hrs but it's up to you to look after them, so common sense tells u to order few days in advance, as I do, join the surgery if u need to, most of the bad reviews on here look like they are young people who obv expect there back side wiped still, don't listen to them

Very telling that the one star reviews come from students and concern the poor receptionists, who shouldn't be called out like this. They have to deal with a regularly changing and very demanding cohort of young adults. I've stuck with the practice for roughly 20 years and have no pressing need to move. Professional conduct throughout.

1/ 5

The wait to see a doctor is weeks long, often over a month, and it will rarely be with the same doctor - there is a severe lack of personal care here. Reasons have to be provided if you wish to see someone quicker, or to get a prescription quickly (it takes 48 hours to be ready to pick up). E.g. "I've already been off my medication for a day because you won't look at my results and re-prescribe them to me" (one of my experiences). Once they understand a little more of the picture then they tend to miraculously be able to squeeze you in that day or within the days following. Staff rarely look at your record to see when your previous and upcoming appointments are (I have been told numerous times that I need to book blood, etc. appointments urgently when I had them taken only a few days prior - on one occasion I told them this and they insisted I needed another, so I obliged but within the time of the two appointments, only 3 days, I was told at least two more times that I needed to urgently book an appointment to have my bloods taken because they hadn't checked to see that I had in fact already booked it). Staff also rarely look at your record to see why you have booked an appointment (when visiting the doctor, you are asked why you have requested an appointment, and when seeing a nurse to have bloods taken, the information of why should be provided on your record). An innumerable amount of times I have had appointments here and had to explain nearly the entirety of my medical history because they simply haven't bothered to check my information beforehand. I have also had the incorrect amount of medication prescribed. This meant that it would not cover me for the duration of an upcoming trip. This specific prescription has always been prescribed as a certain number of tablets, yet on this occasion they managed to half the amount I was prescribed, leaving me without enough medication just before I needed to leave for the trip. I believe that this centre would be an adequate facility for most people, but STRONGLY do NOT recommend it for anyone with a CHRONIC ILLNESS or anyone seeking a PERSONAL APPROACH to their health care.

Awful practice, I’m a student here in Belfast and my own gp at home have advised me to see a doctors in Belfast as an emergency appointment as you’re able to attend any practice for an emergency appointment when registered with the NHS. They said no and hung up on me when I rang and I also came into the practice in severe pain and the lady at the desk was very rude and offered no help or advice. The very next doctor I rang in Belfast was able to take me no problem

As mentioned in other comments, usually once you finally get a doctor or nurse appointment they are very nice and helpful. It's getting to ever see a doctor. I've always had to wait at least 2 weeks, usually 3, one time 5 before getting an appointment. Majority of reception staff are so rude and unfriendly and just generally seem like they don't care. It's reasons like this people who are genuinely sick put off making appointments because they make you feel like a burden. So sub-standard!!!

I went after reading the reviews here, dreading the receptionist attitude. But it was not bad at all. In fact the receptionist I spoke to, whose name was Agnes, was warm, polite and patiently dealt with all my queries as well as of the others who were there. I don’t know if it’s a one off experience, but I thought I should come back and mention it here.

Absolutely horrible. I was relieved when I actually got through after trying for several days. Then was informed that my bipolar disorder wasn't worth the trouble to get a prescription because my registration didn't come in fast enough - even after I said a symptom of my BPI is anxiety around doctors, and it took a lot to even put my paperwork in. You do not need to go here. Avoid at all costs.

Good doctors but that doesn't matter when you can't get an appointment. Receptionist one in particular is very rude I've experienced this & seen her talk down to patients in person. Unsure her medical background but she advises you without consulting a doctor. If I need a Dr I don't want an ignorant receptionist telling me her opinion let alone giving her the full detailed story of what is wrong. Good luck getting through on the phone to even deal with the terrible admin woman.

If you're searching in the area for a GP, consider some of the others in the area (check reviews) to ask if they're taking new patients. Don't see the word 'university' and assume that you need to register there because you are working or studying at QUB. Got kicked off the books in this practice, despite moving to a place
