I believe there were some issues with the triage telephone service they were trialling, and understandably this was very frustrating for a lot of people. I believe the surgeries have changed this system now. When I've called the surgery recently a receptionist has answered promptly and has provided excellent customer service and advice. I've also recently visited the Kimberlow surgery and had positive experiences- friendly staff and short waiting times. Thank you.

Very lovely surgery, the staff and building are very nice and I am honestly surprised at the amount of negativity because it is not bad at all. Only issue is difficulty getting through on the phone lines, but I couldn't blame the GP for it since it has a lot of patients due to the fact it is right next to a large university and there are many locals too. After a few tries on the phone you should almost always get through and if that is a problem, there is always the patient access website. Highly recommend.

Horrendous. If you ever manage to speak to a receptionist on the phone they’ll kindly tell you you can only book an appointment on Thursday morning (because your main priority isn’t getting to work etc it’s booking a drs appointment). Then when you call on Thursday morning the only appointments they’ll have will be slap bang in the middle of the day, because no one works or anything in the day do they. When you get to your appointment make sure you’re at least twenty minutes late because the doctor or nurse you’re seeing will be. I’ve been going for two years as I have no other option and I’ve never been seen less than ten minutes late. Abismal

Cannot fault the service I have had from this surgery from both the receptionists and the doctors both for myself and my elderly mum. I called in tonight as my mum had fallen previously and had started to get spasms in her neck the duty doctor advised what she needed to do and arranged a appointment for her on Monday evening to see how she was getting on. Fabulous service .

'We are experiencing high volumes of calls at the moment'. 'This system is temporarily unable to complete your call.' This seems to be the case all day. So I go online today as well, and find I can only book for 'blood taking'. So I shall get on my bike and cycle over as I've had to do many times before. Paul Kerswill

If your son or daughter is starting at the University at York and has a chronic health condition for which they need access to timely and compassionate care I would look elsewhere. My daughter started this term and spent nearly all term trying to register and set up her repeat prescription for insulin. It took 8 weeks to get a prescription, and even then it was sent to a pharmacy in London which makes no sense when we're from the Midlands! For a practice whose patients are predominantly students managing their own health independently for the first time, the customer service and quality of care both clinical and pastoral is appalling.

My daughter who registered with this practice and has just started university spent 6 hrs in A and E waiting to be seen by the hospital GP. When she rang for an appointment at this practice the admin told her that she couldn’t be seen at this practice until her application had been processed. The hospital GP told her that this was not the case and should have been given an appointment. I think there is some work to be done to improve patient experience. She will go elsewhere.

Absolutely appalled with the way I was treated at this practice. Having being diagnosed with hypermobility and fibromyalgia and plagued with terrible ever progressing symptoms I was basically told there was nothing more they could do as they believed it was a mental health issue and there was nothing else to treat - they were no longer willing to help. I was not willing to take a lot of medications as they don't agree with me and I just wanted to get to the bottom of my issues. I became very distressed about the situation and started to lose all hope before finding my new practice who have been nothing short of absolutely wonderful, referring me for diagnosis of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and thyroid problems and sending me to pain management and taking everything really seriously and I am feeling much more positive about finding ways to manage my conditions! Most of all I feel listened to and respected. So if anyone is losing hope, please don't, find a new doctor. Also, when I brought my daughter in with excess urination, tiredness and weight loss I was made to feel like I was a neurotic mother and time waster. Well, what do you know? Type 1 diabetes. I was actually told I was putting my daughter up to begging for water during the appointment. I don’t think I have ever been treated so appallingly in my life than I was at this practice.
