Very little support for SEN students, inconsistent learning, some students need a solid routine to function and do well. Sadly some staff are rude and lack understanding of young people's needs and their families. I've been to over 10 annual reviews in my child's education this was the only one where I felt like I was a spare part, they spoke over me and didn't really take into account my thoughts. I felt very alone in a room full of people. I was made to feel like I didn't know my own child. My child was told she had one choice of course and when it didn't work out (because the only choice of course wasn't suitable) she was allowed to leave without them even contacting us .. my child has an EHC plan. I have since found out we certainly aren't the only ones! I'm very pleased to say my child is now doing very well in another college who takes the time to listen to their students.. a bit of support goes a long way. The mentors are very good though and reception staff are amazing, so friendly and professional. The one star is for them.
The college overtly breaches The Equality Act, They are not flexible enough to treat older adults equally. Specifically, they do not comprehend how adaptions must be made, within the set course criteria, to accomodate over 60's students, or the meaning of "Age discrimination by association. A civil action is pending by 3 of us.
I went there on a one off basis after been very well trained by a Personal Trainer student of the college. I was to be the client for his practical assessment. I was absolutely shocked and disgusted when the college staff member taking my trainers assessment told him that I was too old - therefore she should be his client for the assessment and not me !!!! I could hardly hold back my tears after such a devastating put down in front of others. I have since consulted a solicitor and checked with the course providers as to whether this extremely rude staff member was allowed to say that I was too old. It was established beyond all doubt that the staff member was in breach of the Equality Act as there is NO restriction on how old a Students training client can be - provided the training is suitably adapted to the age and fitness level of the older person. Having spoken to several Fitness Professionals since - they ALL confirmed this to be a "GOLDEN RULE" of any course at any level for their profession- not only under The Equality Act - but also under their Code of Conduct as Personal Trainers. I am absolutely devastated by what happened - I would not recommend that anyone should use this college- especially if you are one of the protected populations under the Equality Act . Having since spoken to may others - it is also no secret that this college does NOT respect the Equality legislation in several aspects - and not just age discrimination as occurred wiith me. I would stay well clear of this college if you are a senior adult, gay. transgender or disabled.
Staff are fun, yet strict when necessary and the students get along well with one another.
Asked twice now for date and times for adult courses. No response and no information online either, hence my queries. Doesn't give one confidence in the quality of the courses to be honest.
Make sure you don't apply if your an apna they messed me about all year for no reason then enrolled students who were kicked out and had loads of fights if ya looking to apply at this college and your one of our own make sure you don't
Avoid the Stretford college. Disorganised, over subscribe students on courses, timetable was a shambles, tutors don't turn up for lessons. No response from assistant principal when I emailed to say my son would not be returning. Disgraceful we had no support/advice!
Fantastic meal at Aspire restaurant at Trafford college this evening!
