Never again will we book with Thrifty! Our flight was delayed and we couldn’t contact them as we were stuck on the runway. When we arrived they had given the car we were renting away. So we were left with either upgrade or not have a car at all over the Christmas period. The upgrade cost an extra 500 pounds plus insurance. The only car available was a brand new BMW. We didn’t want that but there was no choice to get to the wedding we were attending. When we returned the car, the attendant only focused on the wheels and found the tiniest mark. Even though we took full insurance apparently the tiny scratch on the alloy wheel was not cover by the full insurance. My advice check and take photos of the whole car plus the wheels and the alloy wheels. We travel a lot for business and we will recommend that our company no longer uses thrifty. And we will never use them again.

Why does it take so long to be served!!!?!?!?!?!?????????!??!?!??? 😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩 been waiting like 20 minutes and there’s only one person in front who is still in the process of being served. What are they doing? These humans are obsolete! Please replace them with robots! I also found the £500 deposit a bit extortionate. I understand we will likely get it back but it’s not good for cash flow. It comes across as a tactic to up-sell on the insurance.

I've hired from Thrifty Edinburgh Airport around 10 times in 5 years or so. I've never experienced any issues.Only thing I can relate to is maybe slow service as there is a fair bit to cover at pick up. Generally I get a car i am very satisfied with. One thing that gets me is Thrifty prices are exceedingly cheaper and I can't find the catch. I needed a short term hire for 3 days and got a BWM 118i for 99 pounds where as i was offered a Peugeot 3008 from neighbouring company for 240 pound for 3 days. I went with the BMW. I got a BMW 320i M-Sport for 6 days for a snip of the price from what the neighbouring companies were offering. I understand Thrifty only has 20 vehicles and Europcar have 250. This doesn't make a difference IMO as Thrifty are far cheaper and I've maybe been lucky to have no bad experiences so far other than a sluggish service desk when the staff are working solo. I understand the risks of hiring cars but (touch wood) i've been fairly ok so far. Special mention to Gail & Nicola for their friendly service. And to the young Slovakian lady at drop off for her kind service and assistance.
