This beautiful 400-year-old beamed tavern, with its cosy bar and glowing fires serve traditional heartwarming bar food such as; 12-hour slow roasted shoulder of lamb; and Pan-seared calves liver with classic bubble & squeak, crispy bacon & red wine jus. Good ‘old fashioned’ indulgence is the order of the day in the restaurant, where you’ll find classic English fayre and daily fresh fish specials on the a la carte menu.“The Thatch”, as it is endearingly known is steeped in local history. Even in the 1700 ‘s, it was a well-known landmark – and it is said that Queen Victoria’s Royal Carriage was sometimes seen outside, while John Brown was fortifying himself inside before his onward journey to Windsor Castle!

Very cosy! Despite forgetting our booking they managed to fit us in. Elbow room was tight. Food was amazing and good size portions - especially the lamb! Service was also lovely & friendly. Great historic items displayed around the walls. Added bonus was snow!

Really great place. We were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food, the highlight was the duck egg scotch egg, the best we have ever had previously the best egg was held ( in our opinion) by Michelin* pub....but this was better. Also great burger. We'll be back.

Super high quality Sunday roast. Beautiful and quaint pub, but well conceived dishes that embrace traditional while reaching beyond for the unexpected. Four true foodies left very impressed by the offering.

Such a nice suprise as it's in a small village and next to the road but the back garden is so nice and peaceful. Just refurbished with little individual houses where you can enjoy a really nice meal in healthy and private way. Not for everyone budget but worst it.

The service and atmosphere was lovely. The watermelon and feta starter was great, unfortunately the roast was very tough and my daughter's roast chicken was too dry. The soup she said was delicious. My husband had scampi and fish which he said was delicious. The cheesecake was delicious and the ice-cream portions were found to be very small.
