Good tour. Interesting facts delivered well. Disappointed that our photo taken of the coin striking didn't come out. Wheelchair and accessibility excellent. Cafe terribly noisy due to 'Knight School' doors kept open. Food just average for high prices though friendly and helpful staff.

Great place to visit especially with the guided tour thrown in as you will hear about all of the history of the Royal Mint from its beginning to the present day. You will also see the machines working and you will surely be as impressed as I was to discover how many millions of coins are stamped each and every week. They also stamp medals (Olympic Games) being only one example of the hundreds they have produced. A fantastic place to visit and you can even stamp out your own coin.

Well worth a visit, the tour isn't too long that children will get bored and our guide Theodora was excellent, knowledgeable, upbeat and controlled the group well without being too obvious about it. She had a great way with the punters and really knew her stuff.

The 10p Swap days is a Brilliant idea when you have the 26 coins available, but not so good when there are 6 coins that have not been available for over a month and you travel a fair distance in the hope of having the choice. The worst part of the visit is the friendliness of behind counter staff, not to friendly and helpfull.

This is a George V rupee in a slabe with BU grade from NGC. I was able to figure out how such defects occur. The seller finds a coin with good relief, but affected by corrosion, traces of poor storage and even circulation. Such a coin is deeply cleaned and then coated with a thin layer of silver. Thus, the coin acquires shine, and all its defects are masked. Pay attention to the photo of the obverse - it is noticeable that this coin is worn.
