Great private location along the beautiful tidal road. Authentic decor and outdoor style layout. Staff took the time to explain how they operate and serve during distancing time. It was very clear and you could tell they had thought about it. They use a separate table to serve and collect on, keeping not only the staff safe, but customers too. No other restaurant has done this so far that I have visited. Menu is all delicious. Supporting local businesses with the produce they buy is a big win for me. Staff were friendly, but not overly friendly - would be my only feedback. Heard about this through word of mouth and will pass the recommendation on.

Been looking forward to coming to this place for ages, finally booked for my partner's birthday and we were a little disappointed. A lot of options on the menu weren't available and it was only 7.30pm! Service was very slow, when shown to our table we were sat for a while not doing anything! Might have been good to have been seated with the menu so we could have started looking through that or something!. Could do with more side options. What we had ordered was lovely but Not sure if we'd come again!

I had high expectations based on reviews. Initial welcome was super friendly and enthusiastic (young, blonde, curly) but she was the exception, everyone else was a bit serious and dour. Beyond fish the menu is quite/very limited which is fair enough but for the veggie in our group there was very little on offer - realistically she would have done better to stay at home - but it is a fish restaurant! We had three different fish dishes: scallops, mackerel and lobster. I think for all of us expectations (and price) maybe enhanced, and definitely exceeded reality. My mackerel was nice - having not had mackerel for years - but it was probably overcooked and tougher than it should have been. OH enjoyed her lobster but not sure she thought it was worth £40 We ate on the last day of EOTHO so saved £40 which made cost bearable, without this ........ In short: been there, done that, wouldn't go back

A little hidden gem. Well worth the effort to get there if you're a lover of seafood. Oysters were good but the fish was some of the best I've ever had - great job on the BBQ Chef! Very warm service as well.

We try to visit the oyster shack at least once each summer.... Had a lunchtime booking, under the awning. Great service, very dog-friendly staff. Nice starter and my main course of barbecued brill was incredible. Crispy outside but still moist inside, lovely flavour ... All of the family were similarly impressed with their dishes. Will definitely be back soon.....

We had a large party with Kids, they had excellent ambiance and customer service was very welcoming. But there are some issues with the level of food preparation and cooking regarding the shellfish, not a bad way (no one got poisoned!) just no finesse - while I don’t mind this in principle; the price point rather suggest different. Top tip: I would order the fish as it all looks excellent. Shellfish: We ordered three of the rubberised lobsters ever! £60 odd each. The presentation was terrible, mine came blackened and the tail attached to the claws. Any chefs knows the a lobster doesn’t cook evenly so you need to protect the tail or cook it separately to prevent over cooking. But no thought towards this at all??? Hence very over cooked tails and the whole lobster was so hot I could not even pick up the claws to crack and prevent over cooking of the claw meat. We regularly eat lobster (we go regularly to lobster shack in London) and had it a few days before at a lobster shack round the corner, similar price. - In fairness I did complain and they took off bill, so can’t argue with this (not quite sure if the chef registered that there was a issue however; as they came back with: “if I cook another one it will be no different” - apparently there is no way they can cook another lobster less, you can over cook a steak but they believe there is only one cooking criteria of lobster 🦞 ). Note: My fiend said his crab was dry but I didn’t taste My worse annoyance was in the shell fish namesake: THE OYSTERS: they were as you expect very nice with a range of dressings and I have to say the shallot vinegar was delightful: More pickle onion that shallot vinegar (large chunks of onion, rustic chopped, very little vinegar). Honestly quite liked this all though not a traditional expectation for many. The worst was the oysters were NOT LOOSENED 😲. Is it really that much effort to loosen a oyster for £3 odd each. They even give you a loosening spoon has a large flat middle prong - so have rustic expectations with high price point.

AMAZING food. Best oysters I’ve ever had and I’ve eaten all kinds. We had a dozen oysters and a whole lobster with chips - absolutely delicious and excellent value for money. We only found it by chance but we were so glad we did. The young lad serving and shucking the oysters was very friendly too and he was working so hard. Don’t miss it!
