It's so small you can't look at the shelves because that's where the queue is. I pity disabled people who want to try and shop here, it must be extremely uncomfortable.

Don't expect this tiny store to sell everything a larger supermarket does but it is at the heart of Five ways and I for one am very fond of it. Stocks the essentials, bread, milk and wine as well as flowers, cat food and chocolate. Friendly and helpful staff as well.

1) 12 months into a pandemic with 2m repeated at every turn and yet the blind corner of the only entrance has not been addressed such that it is impossible to see when you go up the ramp if anyone is coming out of the shop.... or vice versa. 2) With every sympathy for the homeless man, his sitting at the entrance (without a mask), adds risk both to himself & others. He is of course the most vulnerable to infection. 3) It also creates the hazard of people imagining they are being nice to him by chatting to him whilst standing in the only exit without a mask spreading aerosols both onto said homeless man without a mask and into the shop when a woman who has been standing waiting to leave, suggests that it might not be appropriate for him to be standing at the only exit ... 4) Apparently, according to this medical expert, the combined forces of UK & World medical experts are wrong and there are no far more infectious Covid variants and everybody is making a fuss over nothing. 5) Finally. he gets a used mask out of his pocket, spreading whatever is on his hands onto it and vice versa and still does not get out of the way. 6) the staff do... NOTHING. Covid doesnt understand that someone is trying... more dangerous variants are a reality and the coop seems unable or unwilling to address the clear Health & Safety issues represented by the single entrance. Laid back customers who think it is all a big fuss really are a) better medical experts than the whole medical profession & b) in full possession of somebody-else's medical history & any of those they are shielding. In Health & Safety terms (by someone actually experienced in this field) in the light of a REAL virus that has MORE highly infectious variants, the minimum this needs is a mirror at the top of the ramp to give people a bit more warning of someone in the other direction and as this lout demonstrates, the masks need to be on from the bottom of the ramp. I have every consideration for the homeless individual, in fact the individual thinking he was being kind talking to him was having a conversation within 2m and with neither wearing masks. The homeless man in the seated position is clearly more at risk with that other factor gravity. UK deaths over 100,000 & ~700 medics prematurely DEAD & with this kind of attitude and a total absence of enforcement of anything remotely Covid sensible, and with existing health conditions it looks like the Coop prefers louts who can barely be bothered than for a customer who had worn a mask from home done and paid for the shopping who simply wanted to leave and go home without any interaction at all. With medical parent & grandparent I find this disregard for others especially doctors nursing and other NHS staff (who are exhausted) very shocking. I think they deserve more consideration but obviously the Co-op doesn't.
