Furious with the reception. After calling twice in one day trying to get an emergency appointment as a temporary visitor, I was told to come in to sign the necessary paperwork and they would book me in for the afternoon. When I came in to do so, they told me I couldn’t get an appointment with them because no one where I was staying was a patient of theirs. I left teary and anxious, not knowing whether I would get an appointment at all for the day anywhere (and thus also for DAYS as it is the Friday just before New Year’s and all the holidays that come with that).

This is a fantastic surgery! Always greeted nicely, and the nurses and doctors are the best I have ever had/experienced. They go above and beyond for their patients and I really am listened to. I feel respected and their empathy. Always wanting to help me find a way that works to help me. I wish everyone could have them!

Moved from Bicester (alchester medical group) to the abingdon area in Dec 2020 (middle of COVID) so I've dealt with surgeries in covid/lockdown etc, but I am appalled at the experiences after nearly a year with Abingdon Surgery. Phone lines very busy and receptionists/management practices make it very difficult to actually get hold of a doctor! My son has undiagnosed allergies and it's taken a long time to actually get anywhere with this (not entirely the surgery's fault) however I actually dread having to call them as I'm never sure what response I'll get, and apart from our actual assigned doctor, all other doctors & staff can't seem to get you off the phone long enough. Working practices are very odd. Repeat prescription for my son, can't get over the phone, I need to fill in a form in the surgery in person, yet when my son had a sore throat, they prescribed anti-biotics over the phone without seeing him. If it weren't for the fact my son is in the middle of being diagnosed I'd have registered elsewhere. In summary some of the staff are great, getting hold of them, not easy and others not helpful. I believe there's a severe management issue here undermining some good efforts.

Horrible with prescriptions. Keep prescribing meds without requesting or meds that I'm not taking anymore alongside the new one's. Fortunately I'm still able to identify which ones I should be taking.
