Vivienne was incredibly swift, responsive and professional in dealing with the vendors and their painfully slow solicitors whilst keeping us fully informed at all times. I rarely write reviews but feel compelled to write one for Sussex Law Solicitors as I had a very smooth process in the recent purchase of my Brighton home. Jane was very efficient and really went out of her way to represent my interests - in my experience this isn't always the case with solicitors! Buying a home can be a very stressful experience so its very important to have someone fighting your corner throughout the process. I would highly recommend Jane and Sussex Law.

Could not speak highly enough of Vivienne and the team! I have used her at another company and really don't think there's anyone better in Sussex. She really didn't miss a beat, was quick, helpful and pragmatic when needed (as are the rest of the team) Having spoken to other parties involved in my chain, they have seperately commented how much better Sussex Law seemed to be than their own solicitors, especially for spotting risks and protecting you as the client.

Jane and her team really are fantastic. This was our second time using Sussex Law but our first sale/purchase. Everyone involved was professional and extremely helpful. This being our first sale (and of a leasehold property with management agents) we had a lot of additional questions. Jane and her team were incredibly quick to reply and kept us up to date with all matters, no question was too small and even at the height of the stamp duty holiday (when things must have been busy) standards didn't slip. Our buyers solicitors were not as efficient and we are well aware of how lucky we are in having timely communication. We cannot recommended them highly enough and will not use anyone else for future conveyancing.

Terrible service. They missed a mistake in our mortgage advisors calculations and then had the nerve to claim that we should have spotted it due to us 'both being graduates'. The mistake by the mortgage advisors led to us being £120,000 short of funds on completion day, which was without doubt the most stressful situation I have ever encountered. This situation was compounded by Jane's response to us and her subsequent unprofessional attitude. We had to go to the legal ombudsman to get Sussex Law Solicitors to issue a mealy mouthed apology and admission that as solicitors they had compounded the error made by our mortgage advisors. In response to Sussex Laws Response: Your recollection is faulty. The ombudsman also found that you were at fault. The only reason you didn't have to pay compensation to us was because the Financial Ombudsman had also found the mortgage advisors to be at fault at an earlier date than the Legal Ombudsman ruled on the matter of your incompetence, so I had already received full compensation. Absolutely, the financial advisors made the initial mistake, but your firm compounded this error by not spotting it at the contract exchange point - something that the Legal Ombudsman commented on. Like I say, all this would have been forgivable were it not for the attitude of complete contempt that your firm displayed towards us after the mistake came to light. You only apologised after I made this a condition of the settlement with you brokered by the ombudsman. We are still feeling the effects financially of these mistakes 8 years later. I have forgiven the financial advisors who made the initial mistake because they accepted responsibility for the mistake right from the beginning and did everything they could to rescue the situation. But Sussex Law, just tried to wipe their hands of all responsibility whilst we were at complete rock bottom on our abandoned completion day with the contents of our house packed into a removal van that was going nowhere. Everyone mucks up once in a while - it takes real professionals to put their hand up and admit it.
