Most storage options seem to be either too little or too much; the council tend to provide dirty, damp and insecure storage (no first or second gates/barriers, no cctv, no spot lights at night, etc), they don't include insurance, and try off loading a van full of stuff into a council garage without people taking an interest.
At the other end are companies that offer secure storage, plus a lot of stuff that, judging from the demand Storebox has, isn't typically wanted; removal vans and people, packing materials, PO boxes, mail delivery, indoor storage units, etc. All nice to have as options but they seem to cause these companies to charge more, even when all you want is just a secure storage unit.
Which brings me onto Storebox...
...they offer secure storage, behind a gate that can only be opened by your registered phone number (possibly a keypad too, although I haven't done this), into a large outdoor area where you can drive your car or van right up to your storage unit, at night if you want due to flood lights, away from prying eyes. The units come in a variety of sizes, all using shipping containers which are suspended off the ground (better for damp control and flood protection). And your items are insured.
They don't offer removal vans, removal men, packing materials, mail redirection, apps, or anything like that.
And the result is you pay storage that is, from my research, cheaper than the companies that offer items and services a lot of people just don't want.
