I am Cringing at the ridiculously uniformed bad reviews here written by people who have no idea how to buy a car from an auction. They need only to ask (as I have always done) questions on the rules of buying at public auction. I bought my first car from here 20 years ago and have gone back ever since whenever I want to change my car and buy another. 2 weeks ago I bought a 30,000 mile 2014 (not exactly an ‘old banger’?!) Ford Fiesta Zetec S at a bargain price and once again I am more than happy. Contrary to popular belief in these reviews there are no dodgy dealings going on or hidden secrets. There are only questions that need to be asked in order to make an informed decision before sticking your hand up at the sale. For example, if you were to ask if you are able to have the keys for a vehicle prior to the auction? The staff will tell you if the vehicle you are interested in has been previously offered under the hammer, (not having achieved the reserve price set by the owner) you are welcome to have the keys to satisfy yourself on the condition of the vehicle before bidding. You can even bring along a mechanic with you if they like! YOU NEED ONLY ASK THE QUESTION. A great many people can and do buy at auction for a bargain price and are very happy with their purchase. These buyers like myself will have without doubt asked the questions that needed to be asked and checked the vehicle condition beforehand. Let’s face it, if you jump in blind put your hand up and buy a vehicle WORTH £3000 FOR £500 on the fall the hammer, YOU CAN BE PRETTY SURE THE CONDITION OF THAT VEHICLE IS REFLECTED IN THE SALE PRICE! And you need to be willing to foot the garage bills that might likely follow because you can’t take it back asking for your money back!
