I visited this sauna last Saturday on a supposed Bear’s Day, although there were very few ‘Bears’ in attendance. Basic food however was supplied of the high calorific content that Bears seem to insist on! This is a reincarnation of the old ‘Steam Complex’ burned down in October 2016. Somehow or other it has retained the same name although there is NO ‘steam room’ in the premises. To reopen, the sauna has joined forces with Pandora's (a Swinger Club) which operates in the evenings apart from Monday. During the day up until 7 o'clock it is run as a gay venue with plenty of on-site free parking. The facilities include a single sauna, Jacuzzi and a pool with the remainder of the ground floor taken up by a large bar and lounge area as well as changing rooms. Because it was originally conceived as a Swinger Club the fittings are rather opulent with chandeliers and plush furniture which all looks a little out of place for a gay sauna. The upper floors are designed as cruising areas with many rooms some with windows many with video facilities. There is a well-equipped fetish room which is probably the best I've ever seen if you are into that kind of thing! The guys on my visit were in the late 20’s to 70’s age range – most being in their 40’s. Sex appears to take place only on these upper floors and is very much orgiastic in the nature. The staff and clientele were very friendly. A little more cleaning would have been appreciated though. In my opinion the venue is far too large to ever be successful. To gain entry you have to join ‘the Club’. This means that you pay an extra £6 for a minimum 6 months membership. The initial entry charge is well over the top unless you are able and willing to be a regular customer. Even if, as was suggested to me, the sauna has to have club membership to be able to obtain the necessary licences, £6 is excessive for a Membership Card and a listing on a database, which probably doesn’t comply with GDPR Compliance anyway. £1 at the most should suffice. All in all a disappointment for me.
