Really good place, I found myself lost in the outpatients and one of the delivery staff came to help me out, I asked a black man and he was very helpful too. There are funny staff, really helpful. Great Hospital.

This was my second stay at Sandpiper and hopefully my last. As lovely and sweet as the staff can be, I think Sandpiper is living proof of how corrupted the NHS really is. I was told that there is only ONE psychiatrist for the whole of the Walland Centre. There is 5 wards in total in the entire building..with roughly about 20 patients per ward. How they can except one person to listen to the needs of 100+ people Is beyond me. I have very little to say about the psychiatrist except that he is probably the worst I have ever delt with. I understand that his workload is incredibly high and he may have little time but that doesn't excuse his lack of eye contact, negative body language to his general neglectful attitude towards patients. This is the second time I have met Dr Mann and I felt that even though I was suicidal and experiencing intense and Psychiatric issues with withdrawal from medication, he still seemed to think I was fit for therapy. I had explained to him that I had been seeing a private psychologist for 4 months (paying her £120 an hour) who specialised in my disorders and she had told me that we could no longer work together until I was in a "stable" position. I explained this to Dr Mann but he insisted that I be discharged and to begin therapy in the community. It felt as though he just wanted to discharge me and move me on because there were too many people in the ward. I don't know if it was a personal thing, or that's just how he treats all his patients but either way, it is absolutely disgusting. The whole reason I was put on a 136 section was because the police, my psychiatrist (Dr Patel) a junior psychiatrist and a nurse wanted me to be admitted. They could all see how poorly I was and the look of concern on their faces, it showed a level of understanding that made me feel import while being in their care. That is a lot more than I can say for Dr Mann. While being in there I had broken down to the staff one more than one occasion but they had obviously failed to log it and tell Dr Mann as I was accused by him for "not engaging" I was also accused of "being out of the ward too often.' I was only out of the ward on two occasions and one of them was because I'd managed to overdoes and had to go to Kettering general hospital. Maybe the nurses hadn't made note of my overdose or Dr Mann just didn't read my record properly, I'm not sure, but either way, it was disgusting service and a perfect example of the lack of care given at St Marys Hospital. I wish I could give a nicer review but I can only express my own experiences. Judging from patients I have spoken to in the wards there and friends I have made that are still in the ward, it isn't a functional place to be in.

Welland Centre - the OTs were amazing and so were their sessions, very supportive and informative. The Ward was let down by the HCA and Nursing staff there, including the Doctor. Very rude and unsafe discharge. Gave me an hours notice of being discharged yesterday afternoon, wanted to put me in a cab and dump me off at the Council because I'm homeless. Very poor and not caring at all. Wasn't listening to anything I was saying. Lack of communication and overall waste of time. Been sent home with short stock of medication although they were due to give me 14 days worth. Very upset about this place. All they did was change my medication, didn't give me 1 to 1's weekly or anything. Please can I note there were a very few members of staff that were good at their job and enjoyed it, and listened to you. It's a shame for the others that let them down.

Spent 10 weeks on Avocet ward in 2019 after being admitted for depression and anxiety. All the staff from medical to cleaning and kitchen are lovely. They have a difficult and challenging job but most are caring and understanding. They deal with many levels of mental health and deserve recognition for the help they give.

Not a very good place to go inn when your unwell although it's clean most of the time and food is at high standard, however the staff I found were very curious of others, and lack knowledge of respect. Found that my belongings would be taken and no action would be taken. Very disappointed by all the team there at st.marys hospital Kettering.
