2pm appointment and still not seen until 2:25. Cowley branch always runs behind. Then the actual optician didn’t apologise for the delay but instead blamed downstairs!! Not good!!

Five minute eye test. Glasses not ready when they called to say they were. Prescription wrong. Waited again. Prescription still poor. 150 quid on lenses which aren't as good as the 5 pound readers I bought whilst waiting. Do yourself a favour and use a decent independent optician. This firm is rubbish.

Fantastic service, warm, friendly and professional. Thank you for my routine eye test today. My optician spotted a small abnormality at the back of my eye from a photo taken from machine. I’m now in the process of getting a referral. Thank you. My optician today was Harita Sahans. She was lovely, thorough and very helpful.

Absolutely deplorable service from a company that say they are one of the best. Took two pairs of glasses in for a possible frame repair just to be offered two completely different frames that may or may not contain my original lenses. These were made without any consideration to my liking of frames or consultation with me. When I asked how this had happened without my consent I was told I don’t know.

I have been taking my children to this store for the past 7 years and after my last visit WE WILL NOT BE GOING BACK!! I will find an alternative opticians for my children. I booked an appointment to have my childs glasses fitted and was invited into store after queuing outside, was asked to gel our hands which we did THEN I was asked where my mask is! I am medically exempt and have the paperwork to prove it YET I was asked to leave the store and stand outside whilst the optician fitted my daughters glasses OUTSIDE!!! I have checked the Covid19 advice on the specsavers website and medically exempt people are not required to wear a mask. I attended two eye examinations with my children in August and sat in an enclosed room with the optician and I wasn't wearing a mask then and I wasn't asked to leave the store! My 11 year old daughter was very upset that we had been asked to leave and extremely embarrassed that her appointment was conducted outside the shop.

This is more a commentary on the policies of Specsavers as a company and not the staff or service that was received in the store. The staff are generally friendly and professional. The Covid safety is also at a decent level. The reason for the poor review is there always is an added cost between what you're told at the start to the time you get to the checkout. This happened on two occasions, the first with new glasses, with an attempt at adding £70 onto my bill. The second was with contact lenses. After completing the free trial and having the follow up appointment, I had opted to go with a monthly subscription of £18 per month. When I got to the till to set up the direct debit I was informed that I would need to pay three months up front - when I questioned why they explained that they take the first 3 months up front and that will cover me until October (It was July at this point). Once again, no problem with this. The issue came when I was informed for those 3 months (Aug, Sept, Oct) that I have just paid for up front, I would also need to pay the monthly fee. When questioned why I would need to pay another £18 for those 3 months if I have just paid up front, the staff just reiterate the same point without any conscious understanding of what they're asking. So the first 3 months I would have ended up paying £36 per month with both the monthly fee and up front payment included. The staff don't seem to have an answer for this when you question as to why. You are repeatedly told "We take the first 3 months up front." Which isn't the case. All in all the service is pretty good. The eye tests are administered well and the optometrists are professional and friendly. Specsavers more so treat you like a customer rather than a patient trying to grasp as much money out of you as they can.

Very poor customer service Lens fell out after a a couple of weeks Was told we’ll fix it this time for free, but your have to pay next time if it happens again. and it did endless times and then basically offered me a poor discount to buy new ones even though the original specs weren’t fit for purpose All the seam to be interested is how much money they can make from you - even the guy at their headquarters agreed with me stating they are franchises and they are very motivated towards the hard sell
