Officially recognised as Birmingham's longest serving gay sauna which opened in 1982. A converted, well-maintained terraced house which faces the pretty Victorian Brookvale park and lake. Friendly, knowledgeable proprietor Vince. Once through the security door (entrance fee still only £10 in 2019) facilities upstairs include a room with quality gym equipment and a vertical tanning pod. 2 private cabins and a seperate large screen TV room/communal (very clean) rest area. Ground floor has separate sauna cabin (seats 8) and steam room (seats 8) plus changing room with hairdryer/mirror/deodorant/aftershave. Condoms/lube available (free) and there's an intimate coffee bar at the front of the building with a large screen TV. Basement has another large screen TV and 2 small cabins. Mixed, friendly and some regular friendly clientele. Located literally a 5 minute drive from Spaghetti junction and only 10 minutes drive into Birmingham City centre down the A38 expressway. Easy parking outside Spartan (on George Road) or side road nearby. Usually busiest from 12:00 to 18:00. Very handy for passing trade - reps/drivers/truckers. The layout of the club is well thought out and maintained to a very high standard. Much more intimate and definitely more friendly than the difficult to find, oversized and vastly overpriced Greenhouse (£16!!!) in my opinion. Well worth a visit.

  • In Roman times, Newcastle – then called Pons Aelius – was a fort on Hadrian’s Wall, and during the Saxon period, it was known as Monk Chester on account of its many religious houses. The city owes its present name to William the Conqueror who, like Hadrian before him, recognized its strategic importance.
