The staff do not seem to know the most basic things about what they are selling. Shoes often have labels on them to indicate what they are made of, but I am not myself familiar with the details of the codes used. Obviously shoe shop staff should be. When I asked in this store yesterday about what one of these labels meant, neither woman knew. One of them said that she could not read one symbol because it was in Chinese and she can't read Chinese. In fact, with reading glasses it can be seen that it is not Chinese at all, but a regular pattern apparently representing weaving. It still isn't apparent what this might indicate about the shoe, or what other symbols might indicate (particularly a sort of diamond). Can't they even telephone somebody to find out ?
