1/ 5

Select Windows (59 Bradshaw Rd, Tottington, Bury) recently fitted some windows for us. They were fitted quickly and efficiently by pleasant workers. Unfortunately the front door was fitted by the director of the firm Julian Stevens and that's where our problem started. The first problem was a serious draught. Julian would never admit that he could feel the draught and when I pointed out that there was an emptly channel around the door he said that he had fitted many doors of this type and the empty channel was normal. He even said that fitting anything into this channel would nullify the guarantee. After 3 attempts to fix the draught and only because of my insistence, he contacted the firm who supplied the door. They sent a pleasant representative who immediately said he could feel a draught and pointed out that the channel around the door should have been filled with wool fibre. He fitted the fibre in a few minutes and apologized for his firm's mistake in not having fitted it before it left the factory. So the mistake was the firm's but if Julian had fitted many of these doors before, why didn't he notice that the fibre was missing ? Especially as I had brought it to his attention. Even though the door manufacturers were at fault, they dealt with the matter immediately and pleasantly, two factors that were missing from all dealings with Julian concerning complaints about his work. The next problem was much more serious. The door that Julian replaced had wet rot, this was the reason for its replacement. Julian admits that he knew about the rot but did not check for rot in the immediately adjacent wood to which he fitted the new door. When I contacted him about this problem he initially said that he would put it right. However, when I later contacted him about his lack of response, he said that he'd decided that he was not going to fix it and that it was "my problem". When I informed him of what the Citizens Advice Bureau had told me he told me I was being stupid and hung-up the phone on me. He then phoned me back and again hung-up the phone on me. Since then I have been unable to get him to answer the phone and he has ignored a letter I sent to him by recorded delivery. The Citizens Advice Bureau said that he had failed to use reasonable care and skill. Julian is simply not trustworthy.

Competitive quote assured Select Windows the job Julian and his team worked to the timescale we were promised and fitted us the most stunning Solidor in Irish oak. They were professional, and the workmanship was of a high standard. Everything was left clean and tidy. Would definitely recommend Select. We absolutely love it. Thank you.

5/ 5

Excellent service - Due to our door being smaller than most standard size doors we struggled to find a company that could provide what we wanted. When we got in touch with Select Windows we were pleasantly surprised they they were able to supply the exact door we wanted and were very reasonably priced compared to other companies that we recieved quotes from. We would definitely recommend.
