Unfortunately, I was disappointed with my visit yesterday. I had been referred by my own excellent dentist in Cumbria. A scan of my teeth had been taken in October and sent The Scottish Centre for Excellence in Dentistry requesting that I be considered for an implant. The booking had been made several weeks ago and I had a journey of over 2 hours to get there. On arrival I was seen promptly, and on entering the surgery was immediately assured that I could have the implant I was hoping for. However, the dentist had not looked at the scan before my visit, and when he did, he said that the procedure would not be straightforward and advised against it. I had been booked in for an hour's consultation, but in fact I was only seen for 7 minutes. I was bitterly disappointed as I had waited a long time for a consultation and driven a very long way to keep the appointment. If the dentist had briefly examined the scan prior to my visit he could have saved me a lot of time and trouble. It was the most expensive and wasted 7 minute consultation of my life. Frances Hart
