Salford Museum and Art Gallery manchester

Free to get in and old lark lane was great and really interesting. They had someone teaching the kids about Victorian ways. Not loads to do for kids but this was free so don't expect too much. Good way to kill an hour or so and the kids did enjoy it.

One of the loveliest museums around, downstairs is Lark Hill Place, a victorian street all set out as it would have been, you can hear children and horses in the background and can look into the houses and shops, even the blacksmiths! Upstairs is a small art gallery with some stunning paintings to view. Would definitely recommend this as a lovely way to spend an hour or two ❤️

Enjoyed my visit. Lots to see and do. Suitable for all ages. Particularly liked the Salford Art Club exhibition and the Victorian street.

Nice place to come to and so easily missed. Good history of the area and great depiction of a Victorian street. Nice sweet shop there for the children as well.

Absolutely outstanding! Every exhibit is amazing to look at, your even allowed to take pictures which is very generous of them. Five stars for me.

Awesome place, well worth a visit if you are in the area. The museum was very interesting, the artwork was excellent and the old town area was a great experience. Free entry, has a cafe and friendly, happy, helpful staff. It only took me an hour or so to have a good look around, so even if you don't have a lot of time in Salford, you still have time to visit the museum. Some parking is available out front.

It is very close to the university of Salford and although it is a small museum it is really interesting. There is a part of ciry with Victorian design if I'm not mistaken, with different shops and houses. The details are very well exhibited and I bet everyone enjoys visiting them. There are also some pictures and posters of Salford city in the past that you can get for yourself (the staff offer them especially to the kids). There is also a library with so many old books that make you feel you are in the past. It is totally free to visit the museum.

I have never become tired of visiting this museum- such wealth of different exhibits bringing the past to life. The cobbled Victorian Street recreated inside is particularly an area to spend a lot of time to look at how the Victorians lived. There is Victorian art work on display but also modern art gallery where items are regularly changed. In all, I would highly recommend the museum as a place to while away a few hours.

Great experience here. Dropped by for a quick visit before going back to London. We came down for a couple days on a birthday trip. Loved seeing the shop area showcasing local artists cards and prints for sale. Grabbed a gift for a friend. Favourite part was George Shepherd exhibit. I enjoy photography and love the story behind it, seeing the gems that were found and framed on the walls. Lovely polite member of staff greeted us at the desk on arrival and was very helpful. Upon our leaving they did ask how we found it, offered us recommendations and even told us that a couple ladies from one of the photos realised they were in one and brought their other friend from the photo along for an emotional reunion time.

Not bad .. they lack resources to develop tho .. some stuff are not as friendly as expected. Need more interactive and interesting activities/exhibits. Hourly paid parking is available. Also good to see the university of Salford
