Literally the worst Sainsbury's in Edinburgh. I keep making the mistake of going to this Sainsbury's in hope that they will have a modern option of supplies. But they never do. I've walked in and walked out empty handed about ten times. The staff are really nice and helpful but if you're looking for anything beyond the basic bread and butter you are better off going to Westport Sainsbury's.

I'm perplexed how this store gets such a high rating. Ever since it opened it's had a bad smell inside, as if the building used to be used as a crematorium. The prices, of course, are all higher than Tesco. You want a jar of Colman's mustard? Then you'll be paying about 40p extra for the privilege. Got a headache? Then that'll be an extra 20p for a packet of own brand paracetamol. Got a craving for Jammie Dodgers? They're usually half the price in Tesco. This all adds up, but it seems that some people choose their supermarket like they choose their football team. Lest we forget, this store has never had self-scanning machines, not to mentions that there seems to be no formal direction for the checkout queue; usually trailing down one of the narrow aisles and hampering shoppers. It's cramped as hell. The staff are a little stuck-up, compared to Tesco. All this, and Tesco opens an hour earlier. As I said, the high rating makes no sense. I suspect most of the reviews are posted by Sainsburys.
