Newly on the Cask Marque Ale Trail and the certificate not even up yet - but the Timothy Taylor's ale was more than good enough, so the accreditation they have earned (but yet to display) is well awarded. A mid week lunch period was my time of visit and the establishment whilst not frantically busy, did have steady custom - it occurred to this reviewer that the sole bar staff was in need of some help. A well established building that has had a few renovations. There is plenty to see on the well decorated walls and an alcove showing artwork of a staff member. Food all day.

It's a real shame that this pub has lost its once charming appeal. I went there yesterday for my husbands Birthday, steak was chewy, very small portions of food, and the bar staff were not welcoming. Especially one lady in particular she was very impatient with my hard of hearing elderly relative. The German (l think) waitress was lovely and warm but unfortunately she only took our dessert order. Lovely setting & pub interior just a shame it's not how it used to be. We won't be returning this is our second bad experience here.

A grand village pub well worth a visit. Their restaurant is more fine dining than rustic grub and they accept Tesco vouchers. This is a good place to bring the family.

Visited on Saturday 1st June in the way back from a week in Clacton. Arrived at 3:30pm and we were welcomed by a polite lady who showed us to our seats away from a crowd, which is great as we have 4 children who can be very testing to the most patient of people at times. Food tasted great, I had the cod and chips, wife had gammon and was offered a double egg when she didn't want the pineapple, which is a nice touch without having to ask. We had 4 kids meals for the children (12 and under) and reasonably-priced at £6.99 for each meal. The toilets were of a good standard but missing a toilet roll holder and one of the fans blew cold air, which didn't dry my hands effectively. Also the men's toilet seat was broken meaning I slipped off when I sat down. The pub is in a semi-quiet place called Wick and the atmosphere and decor are of a good standard and made us feel very welcome. I liked it. The service was very pleasant and timely and the food arrived in good time and all of our needs were met when requested. Use of Clubcard vouchers was easy to apply and there were no issues with payment. Overall = 4 stars as room for improvement in the toilets. Get the toilet roll on a holder and get both air dryers blowing out hot air and you get yourself 5 stars.

Always very comfortable with attractive and traditional surroundings. The food is excellent, snacks of great quality and a superb selection of drinks for all preferences. The staff are always very pleasant and nothing is ever too much trouble. There is on-site parking in abundance for the size of the venue. Easy to reach from the A46, A417, A38, M5 and M4, so anybody should be able to reach it easily!

Great staff who are happy to serve, great unique meals and some real British classics. Good level of distancing measures for a pub, and good parking for moderate levels of demand. A lot of short ceilings clearly marked, a lot of ducking is involved!
