Regency Square in Brighton, is a large early 19th-century residential development on the seafront. It was built over a period of 10 years, from 1818–1828, on one of the fields surrounding the fishing village. Earlier, in 1793, a 10,000-man military encampment (Brighton's first) was established here in response to the increased military threat from France. With a reputation as a place for women to find partners, it became the setting for Jane Austen's most loved novel of all time 'Pride and Prejudice'! Today Regency Square houses boutique hotels and attractive homes in the very heart of one of Britain’s most successful cities - Brighton!
