Have been to the EPU multiple times due to miscarriage and heavy bleeding in early pregnancy and having been to Winchesters EPU before I wasnt expecting much but I was shocked at the amazing care, support and time that was put into my scans and also when I found out my baby stopped growing I was given options and the pros and cons of each option. I've never had nothing forced upon me and given time to think over everything before make such decision. With future pregnancies I'll be 100% be getting referred to PAH again :)

One of the consultants Mr Ken Mencalf, was extremely rude and very insensitive. Even when I made it known to him on how his approach was very aggressive and confrontational. Still did not show any empathy and was very unapologetic. Using words like ( I Don’t care) should not be used when dealing with patients in pain. Looked very unprofessional, was jeans and a polo top. I honestly thought that a visitor accidentally, walked into my room. Did not even knock the door just barged into my room & opened up the windows without even asking if it was okay. And at that point it wasn’t because I was having a headache. This unfriendly, mean, insensitive consultants, needs to go on a patient care training. He honestly made me feel worthless and not worthy of the nhs treatment, I was given. But I won’t leave here on negative note, the rest of the team were very supportive and helpful. No one expect from this consultant has been this rude and unpleasant towards me.

Worst experience in the laber and delivery one midwife in particular was verry rude and had no patience there was only one doctor came down to the ward every couple of hours to see the many woman that was in labour so that left only midwifes on the ward so the doctor had no time to give me any drugs that i begged for ... I would never recommend this hospital for having a baby !!!

2/ 5

I can't fault staff (nurses in particular) and the hospital itself but I was genuinely very let down by the system and I'm not sure if this has also been down to a miss-communication from surgeon to my local doctor... I went in to surgery due to having extreme pelvic pain (this being the closest hospital that 'specialised' in my issue) and had an operation to hopefully diagnose it on 18th November 2016 after 8 long years of battling this illness and referral after referral etc... As I came out of the anesthetic the surgeon informed me immediately (literally a couple of minutes from waking up) that nothing was found and said he would refer me to the pelvic pain clinic that they are trialling there... I still have not heard anything 2 and a half years later and still I am battling this illness every single day. I had genuine hope that the surgery would help or even at least get me somewhere with referrals. To top it off I have a messed up belly button (badly sewn/stitched back together) which is the least of my concerns fortunately. It certainly put things into prospective where there is a ward of 10 people all waiting to queue in for various surgery's in a 1 in 1 out system... But I guess that is the result of staff cuts / wage cuts and the effects and pressure of the free health care system. Every day I feel like I should just lose all hope of ever feeling 'normal' like everyone else. The surgery should of been a beginning and not felt like an ending.

The worse experience i have had in EPU I have been trying for a baby for many years and have had 3 recurrent miscarriages and I'm a high risk for Ectopic pregnancies. This year in January 2019 i found out i was pregnant. I had to have a 6 week scan done to make sure this pregnancy was not ectopic. Luckily it was not and was a normal intrauterine pregnancy. We saw baby but obviously very small with no heartbeat. I was given another appointment to come back to see if baby had grown. I was a little concerned about the size so i decided to pay for a reassurance scan 6 days later. Baby had grown slightly but had bradycardia (very abnormal heartbeat). My partner called up EPU in Southampton about the results and concerns we had and the EPU Southampton were so rude about the ordeal. I felt really upset about the way they spoke to my partner and myself. On Monday i woke up at 3am with horrendous pains in my lower stomach. I thought it was the start of a miscarriage, as embryos with bradycardia have a 0% survival rate. My wife called up Bramshaw ward and was advised to call up the EPU. My partner called up the EPU as soon as they opened at 9am. She advised them that i woke up at 3am with severe pains and that i am a high risk of miscarriages. The nurse was so rude to my partner and said well she can take pain relief. We will not move her scan forward. The nurse sounded cold hearted and had no compassion at all. My partner gave me pain relief and we went to Winchester for the day. I callopsed in pain whilst there. My partner took me to a&e. They saw me and took me straight to gynaecology ward. They throughly checked me over and wanted me to have a scan done for the following day. The next day arrived and had the scan. Baby had no heartbeat and died. My partner called up EPU in Southampton and explained that we needed to cancel my scan for a few days time as i had a missed miscarriage. The only response my partner got was i will cancel that. There was no "Im very sorry for your partners loss" or any compassion. My partner and I are absolutely appalled by the way we were treated by the EPU. I am currently awaiting surgery (Friday 1st March) for Surgical management of miscarriage at Winchester gyane ward. In future pregnancies i will be getting self referred to Winchester early pregnancy unit. They are far more compassionate, caring and sympathetic.

Incredible service and patient care given to me whilst staying on the F4 spinal ward. After receiving emergency spinal surgery the care could not have been better. All of the staff were very accommodating and attentive. Meals were fantastic. Great choice and plenty of options with 24 hour food service if required. But a special shout out and we'll done to my carer Monica for being so incredibly kind not just to myself but to all of the patients. She came on to shift everyday with the most incredible cheerfulness. Always willing to help and spoke to everyone with dignity and respect. She's one in a million. Thank you. 😊

I haven't been to the Princess Anne for around 3 yrs and had forgotten just what a lovely, reassuring place it is. There is something soothing for very frayed nerves to be surrounded by other women all kind and pleasant, all sympathetic to female health worries. Girl power at it's best! Brilliant!

My daughter was born just over a month ago in the Princess Ann. All of the staff were so friendly and professional. It made such a massive difference to my wife and I to feel so well supported and cared for. It was clear that some staff were just exhausted, having to make up shifts with so many colleagues shielding/in quarantine and yet they manage to put so much energy into creating a safe and positive environment. I cannot over emphasis how grateful my family and I are to you guys. Thank you so much.
