We have been regular customers of pizza express for a number of years now and have been generally satisfied with the food and service. But not tonight. When we arrived we were informed that as the kitchen would be closing in about 15 mins the starters and mains would have to be served together, we agreed. We waited quite a long time for the food as we were told the ovens had been switched off and had to be reheated again. The food was not to it’s usual standard whatsoever. It seemed the preparation of the food had been rushed, it didn’t have the usual unique flavours nor the same base texture. The chicken tasted weird. The garlic bread base was burnt and the bruschettes were very doughy. We were extremely disappointed in the quality of food. Pizza Express is considered an expensive restaurant, we don’t mind paying the prices but when the food is a major let down then this is, understandably, a concern. When choosing Pizza Express to celebrate a special occasion we expected good food and service but We were seriously let down.

Nice and cosy. I had a great dinner here last week. Better for pizza than for pasta (in my opinion).

A short walk from the hustle of city centre means it is quieter. Makes it much better than the central branch. Social distancing is in place and practiced. Would be happier if the helpful and friendly staff also wore masks. Food is as expected. Tried and tested.

Perfect Sunday tea time. Real comfort food, this Lasagna really takes some beating. Booked earlier in the afternoon for our tea, via the app service. Greeted at the door and had a choice of tables as we were the only customers, everything was explained clearly and we were let to order via the online menu. We had the obligatory dough balls and a cheesy garlic bread to start. Our grandson had a margarita with extra cheese, my had a Veneziana and I the Lasagna. For desert we both had chocolate fudge cake and our Grandson the fruit lolly. All of us enjoyed every single mouthful from beginning to end, along with the excellent service it was worth every single penny.

Covid review: A reasonable experience. They had ran out of Buffalo mozzarella. The service was good.

Covid review: A reasonable experience. They had ran out of Buffalo mozzarella. The service was good. It is a shame the food went cold so quickly. The chicken pizza was a bit funny, the spice flavour wasn't balanced.
