Please don't fall for anything verbally said and make sure you get that in writing, because when i had cataract surgery i was told it would be life time care after ,they are just interested in taking your money that's the call centre they do push you to get the treatment, i think they are on commission. Just look around optical Express do rush the operation not happy at all but my local clinic is good for checking the eyes .

5/ 5

After the best part of nine months I was discharged today by Optical Express. That was a lovely surprise as I was anticipating another check in three months and at that point being discharged. I can therefore officially see for both distance and reading and for the first time in nearly fifty years I don't need correcting lenses. I think I should feel more excited than I do, but I think this maybe in part due to the fact that I am still getting used to the idea. When I would fall asleep in front of the television and wake up it would be a worry that a lens might have disappeared around my eye or would pop out if I blinked too quickly. I don't have that worry anymore. I can rub my eyes without worrying, I can look into the direction of the wind and not worry about getting a tiny piece of grit stuck between the lens and the eye, I can read the bed side clock if I wake at night. These may seem trivial but after so long it's these little things that make such a huge difference. Therefore a huge thank you to everyone at Optical Express in Reading, Sean, Anoushka, Ryan, all the optometrists that I've seen over the nine months, and there have been quite a few, and apologies to anyone else who I've missed. Everyone without exception has always been polite, friendly, professional and nothing has ever been too much trouble. Also to the two surgeons who actually sorted my eyes out, with the lens replacement and the final corrective Lasek surgery. I must admit I did wonder at times, but the optometrists were always very positive about how things would turn out. Today they were proved right. A while back someone did ask me if I would recommend it and at that time I wasn't entirely sure. Now, no doubt at all, I would. Again, a huge and very grateful thank you to everyone.

I wish there was an option for minus stars!! My partner had lens replacement surgery last May, his prescription has been reversed and he cannot see to drive. Despite numerous visits back to Reading and to London (last one 6th April), when surgeon says incorrect lens fitted and further replacement would be necessary, told he would receive appointment within a week, still nothing and Optical Express are saying there are no notes and are we sure he saw a surgeon!!! Seriously , it takes 21 days to receive a response to any communication, Optical Express are at best incompetent. I was intending to have surgery myself but will be buying new glasses instead after the most awful experience, which is still not resolved.

Absolutely useless. My partner has had nothing but problems with you. Spend a ridiculous amount of time, energy and money with you and you can’t even keep a diary of appointments. By far the worst experience/customer service we’ve had.. 5 visits now and not a single one has gone smoothly, always someone else’s fault or a problem with the system. It’s a joke. If only you didn’t have our money and signature already…

Absolutely horrible experience. They were running 2 hours behind for my consultation and didn't think to call. Have gone for my surgery and they're having issues with the machine so my appointment is delayed until further notice. Took the day off and again, no phone call to save me traveling to the practice.

Every time I come to reading there is issues When I had my first consultation and agreed on surgery and parted with £500 they made no notes on the system ! So the following consultations were a complete mess . I arrive for an appointment and the guy at the reception is late previously and this time round they can’t find my appointment ! Despite booking 2 weeks in advance . Avoid

I had laser eye surgery with Optical Express yesterday and I am so happy with the result! Everyone there is really friendly and they knew I was very nervous for it, so they made sure I felt safe and comfortable. The building there is very clean and they clean everything before you use it. The operation was less than 10 minutes long, you don't feel any pain, just a slight pressure but it's not unbearable. In less than 24 hours, I don't even feel like I had it done! Only slight headaches and aches in my eyes. My eyesight is now better than 20/20 vision! Worth every penny, highly recommend.
