Had keyhole surgery on my right knee a couple of months ago and have just come back and had full knee replacement on my left knee today. The experience on both occasions could not have been better! All the staff have been extremely courteous, caring and friendly without exception! And the food is gorgeous! Can not recommend highly enough!

Had one really bad experience at this hospital, with an unfriendly consultant who wasn't very helpful. However my next visit was a lot better, friendly receptionist a and very kind and chatty nurses as last time to help make me feel comfortable; my consultant the 2nd time was a lot better and friendlier with a much better bedside manner and a much more detailed consultation

Extremely impressed. I was referred here for a knee injury which couldn't be fixed through physiotherapy. Eventually with surgery I had my cartilage trimmed and ACL reconstruction and, nearly four months on, it feels remarkable. The service I received on multiple visits here (including a day-long stay for surgery) was among the best I've ever received. Staff were friendly, approachable, efficient and professional. Can't rate highly enough.

Wife was kept in overnight unexpectedly so I wanted to go an see her. I checked the Nuffield web-site and it said visitors welcome but check individual hospital site. Nothing on York regarding visitors at all. So I rang and after 15 minutes on hold I thought I'd drive the 9 miles to the hospital but keep the call open in case visitors weren't allowed. Call disconnected from their end en route so rang back. Reached hospital after 30 mins still no answer but notice saying for patients and visitors to enter car registration at reception. Nobody at reception, no phone, no buzzer or notice saying what to do if not manned. I waited for 10 minutes - nothing. Eventually I tried to find somebody. A sign said visitors report to ward reception, so I did that. Nobody there. No buzzer, no notice. So I waited ...and waited. After about 5 to 10 minutes a nurse came and said visitors weren't allowed. This isn't a comment on the medical care but their security and administration is shocking. From web-site to switchboard to staffing it's shambolic. I can't respond to the reply below but I can amend this post. Does the response have any thing to do with my post? No it' s also 4 years or of date. Reflective of their admin I'm afraid.

I'm due to have a scan on Monday but my visit previously with Mr Stanley was good he explained my options sadly the equipment I need was removed so offered to go to Scarborough on probably 6 occasions to have treatment there not on NHS would have to pay £250 plus travel so going for second option treatment through Nuffield no charge to myself covered by NHS I was disappointed I couldn't get the best option for my medical needs but unable to do the travelling and cost to and from Scarborough several times as unwell myself and a full time carer for my adult son.

Appointment at 6pm no waiting around, environment spotlessly clean, both staff were professional, kind and caring. Both tried to make the experience as best as possible, l knew exactly what was going to happen, it is a noisy procedure but you are given earplugs, headphones with music if you so wish. Thank you to both staff.

I have contacted Nuffield regarding private testing, I was given wrong information by the adviser and was told I will be contacted by the Nuffield Hospital staff shortly, which never happened. When I called the number given, I was told the treatment I enquired about is not offered by Nuffield at all. .
