READ IF YOU ARE MILITARY PERSONNEL. This is the first of many, multi-site reviews i will be leaving. Nuffield Guisley offer a ‘corporate rate’ for serving Military personnel. This was sold to me under the guise that it could be ‘frozen’ during expected periods of unavailability at ANYTIME prior to the 18th of any month. The only requirement on a 12 month agreement is that to end the agreement, regardless of any suspension, 12 complete months need to have been paid for. According to Richard Beaumont, this is not the case and when Nuffield Guisley decide that they want to take your money when they re-activate your membership, any refund of that amount is totally subjective to what-ever Guisley kingpin Mr Beaumont wants to do, or doesn’t want to do in this case. This is a gym that markets itself as ‘for you and not for profit’. This membership is not suitable for those who cannot regularly attend and even with MOD corporate, expect to pay £50 PM for the privilege of nothing much. If Nuffield want to offer MOD staff a package, it needs to be restriction free with regards to suspending when work takes priority. If the above isn’t irritating enough, Guisley management decide when they want to respond to emails or calls.. or even if they want to respond at all blaming mis-communications on junior level staff. In a nutshell, Guisley has some lovely guys and i’ve plenty of good things to say about the hard working reception girls who take all the flack for senior management, who consequently are generally always un-available due to being a big deal elsewhere. Guisley is a gym that promotes ‘good health’ yet for almost a decade, couldn’t / wouldnt fix the air-conditioning which ultimately during workouts had the effect of an asthmatic kitten breathing on your face on a 35 degree day.. Incase anyone reading this hasn’t figured, most of the management team haven’t got a clue. So many more people now are opting for other local gyms in otley / ilkley etc that are better value for money (minus a tiny pool) at around £30pm. People are leaving this place in droves, they don’t even pay their PT staff all that well that work their backsides off. To conclude: IGNORANT / ARROGANT MANAGEMENT WILL IGNORE EMAILS / REQUESTS MANAGEMENT WILL LIE TO COVER THEMSELVES POOR VALUE FOR MONEY POOR COMPLAINTS PROCESS AND HANDLING VERY DIFFICULT TO GET A REFUND EQUIPMENT IS OFTEN BROKEN WILL LIE TO GAIN NEW MEMBERS / MIS-INFORM Guys, do yourself a favour and look for a gym elsewhere..
