Firstly 10/10 to the visible staff that put up with so much s**t 5 hours, intermittent Air Con, Drunks on white cider, blood stained floor, 4 cold drinks machines on site none working, Water pots empty then filled when asked but expected to service 30 plus waiting in 30c temperatures, no security or waiting patient /carer support. Sure they do there best but obviously don't have the resources or support to make that good enough.

It's a good hospital, but the downsides are horrendous parking trying to find spaces, you need to allow an hour before your appointment. Once you're there it's difficult to find your way around with poor signage and no maps posted. Wheelchair users will struggle as its built on a hill and very steep in places, especially around A & E and the main entrance. Nice staff and Doctors.

I was one day into my holiday in Sheffield so had cause to visit here rather than my local one. 7 hours spent in A&E (not uncommon I guess). Initially seen fairly quickly and sent for x ray - After this is where service and care went downhill as if they had treated me properly in first instance and given correct information I could have 1/ carried on with my holiday rather than having to go home that same day as I was rendered immobile and did nt actually need to be 2/ not had to spend another 5 hours today back in a&e at my local hospital 3/ not had to be subject to unnecessary discomfort and more un needed X-rays. 4/ loss of money due to me not going on holiday Very sweet young trainee doctor But didn't seem to have much of a clue and hardly spoke, seeming to rely on lady who plastered me for guidance. All of them in fact appeared to be trainees. Many of them hanging around doing not much/using mobiles. Told me he d send me for an x ray ( I d already had this !) so he went off to find results, told me I d broken bone, didn't go through x ray /show it me which is normal procedure so I asked questions to which he had no answers. Was then sent to be plastered as a temporary measure until could get apt at fracture clinic back home, for which they would send x ray results through. Told me all I had to do was visit my own a&e who would look at x rays and refer me, without necessity to go through whole system again- not true as I have had to today for another 5 hours so my time in Sheffield hospital a waste of time and they didn't even bother to send x rays through anyway even after my hospital calling them to request!! Plaster cast poorly done and right up to knee which restricted any movement completely. It was very loose around foot area and didn't actually protect where the break was ( I realised this as a lay person and was confirmed by my own hospital as being useless where they could not understand why this had been done anyway and that I should have been given a boot to protect). Boot is a lot more comfortable and doesn't restrict movement as much. So in essence friendly staff but medically pretty useless which is kind of more important

I have struggled with my Dr for 7 years to get my back checked out because of a recurring problem. They refuse to give me an MRI or X-ray. After being admitted to A&E yesterday where the ambulance crew and Drs/nurses were brill, I got checked out, had an MRI done which found the problem. They finally got to the bottom of my problem that my GP surgery refused to. The only downfall is that I was there for nearly 13 hours but the housekeepers were lovely and offered me cups of tea and a sandwhich (Alesia and the blonde lady, brilliant hard workers and are very polite and helpful to patients) Thank you
