I came to the Library for the first time, the building is modern and good, but the wifi goes off several times which is annoying, I came to study, i need internet, and I can’t work if it’s without internet. Today saturday the time breaks at 1pm, the library close for 1 hour, which again is very annoying, if you come here for studying and for any reason you need to be the whole day or you come from far away, or for any reason you only have available the time in the morning, then they cut you in the middle. The staff is helpful, they help you if you ask, and the place is kind of cool, in the ground floor they have a place for having food, the building is modern, comfortable, but they haven’t got proper table for studying, an the ones they have you are looking directly to the windows, with all the light hitting you directly, my screen at full brightness still a bit dark for the contrast with the light of the window, if they make better spaces for studying with big tables that would be great. For me the most annoying is the internet, that stop working several times, this is a problem that several libraries have, they always require registration, place your details which make it also more annoying, there are things they can do to improve. From a business management perspective, you have to define properly the proposal of your business, what have you design the library for, what kind of people use, what the people who come use it for, design it in a way that serve the purpose and needs of your client, have a clear define value proposal that gives value and design all for the value proposal, don’t try to achieve purpose which are contradictory

Constant lack of seats and table spaces. Almost no plug sockets available for use anywhere. Staff are horrendously rude and loud. Absolute disgrace of a library and does not even deserve to be acknowledged as one.

Very helpful staff but inconvenient to access. You can't park outside so have to park in the big car park across the road and when you get inside you need to use the lift and the library is spread over 2 floors.

  • In Roman times, Newcastle – then called Pons Aelius – was a fort on Hadrian’s Wall, and during the Saxon period, it was known as Monk Chester on account of its many religious houses. The city owes its present name to William the Conqueror who, like Hadrian before him, recognized its strategic importance.
