We used to come here all the time and really enjoyed it but didn’t come for a while and decided to come in with all the family. The staff were great and very attentive but the food wasn’t as good as before. The scones are clearly factory made and the pie wasn’t great. The atmosphere is good and it’s a nice traditional place, I’m hoping they can revert back to the original scones and pie

Newens offers a delicious high tea anytime of the day and that comes very handy after a fair hike through Kew Gardens. The place seems fallen out of time, but that adds up to the atmosphere which is very cosy. Newens service was excellent, the scones were one of the best I EVER had! Fluffy, tasty, delicious! The clotted cream n jam was fresh and made it with its hot tea an all-round high tea experience! Highly recommended!

Not sure where to start, ordered eggs on toast with coffee, received worse than I could rustle up at home... Burnt, hard, very dry, thick, tasteless toast was hard to swallow, served with a tiny portion of butter between two people. Coffee pot was good but served with a stainless steel jug of cold milk that dripped down the length of the jug when poured. Overall it was apparent the kitchen was run with little culinary prowess. Custard tarts are not the kind you'd get in Portugal, just a yellow, sugary mixture. Decor and ambience was pleasant, it holds the charm from its heyday.

Loverly little place that can get quite busy. We came for the Sunday roast and afternoon tea. The roast was very nice we had beef and chicken both were excellent. Afternoon tea to follow was just as good lovely scones and pastries. The slices of pie are a great addition too. So good we took several slices takeaway too. Also popped in for breakfast too sausages and bacon were very nice.

I decided to treat my parents to a trip here, after all it’s their cup of tea (pun intended 😉)and after driving past on so many occasions I decided the time is now! It’s definitely an “experience”, I’ll give it that. I get that it’s old and traditional but, it does feel like it could be a little more maintained and less “worn”. You kinda get the feeling that if nothing gets refurbished that it will turn to dust. The guy who served us was great, very professional and polite. We ordered some coffee and hot chocs plus some cakes and a slice of Steak Pie which was delicious. We managed to get on-street parking virtually right outside… very lucky!!

Waited 20 minutes to be served, then approx. 25 minutes for Scones and sandwiches to arrive, cheap cheese & cheap ham, quite bland. Then was served the wrong tea (English breakfast) then had to wait a further 10 minutes for Earl Grey Tea which was tea bags when we asked for loose leafs. The big lady with long curly hair we found to be quite rude, my family were not happy, we never finished our tea or food, the quality of the food is cheap...along with very cramped setting. However the gentleman who was on the till was very polite and professional. Looks lovely from the out side though.....HOWEVER IT'S A ONE OFF TOURIST TRAP. WE WILL NOT BE GOING BACK.

A superb full English breakfast, the bloody Mary tomatoes are fantastic. The owners/staff are really friendly and make it feel like home. It's a shame we live so far away or I'd be in there every morning !! If your anywhere near Kew definitely go there for your breakfast or a coffee and one of their fresh bakes cakes. (The coffee is excellent too). Finally shaemus( the window dog) is a proper character so don't forget to say hello to him too 😀 I would 100% recommend going here, I'll be back soon !!! 10 stars if I could give it !!!!
