Hadn't realised there was so much to see. You need to take time to understand the different stages of the castle's history. There's a lot of steps....so wear sensible shoes!

The Black Gate was built non AD 1247 which is still their . Near to this tyne bridge and a railway track is going through a bridge that's also amazing. If you visit Newcastle don't miss this place because history will always speak about the county.

First of all I love the fact that there's a surviving castle in Newcastle. The preservation of some artifacts in the castle and the description of the castle's rooms were quiet informative. Moreover climbing 99 steps to get to the top of the castle proved to be worth it, the ariel view of Newcastle city is beautiful.

Wedged inbetween two railway track junctions this historic event building is a must for historians and family's alike . There is a museum and the children can dress up in costumes of the time and find out the history of its beginnings. For the fit there is a 99 step climb up to the roof where wonderful views all over the city can be taken in. Well worth a visit for young and old . We had such a great time here, there is so much to see and explore than I thought there would be. The guy on reception was such a brilliant person, told us about places to go and eat etc. The price is excellent, well worth it. Loved it.

A strangely beautiful ancient monument slap bang in the middle of this great metropolis. Close, literally 50paces, there is one of the great bridges over the Tyne. To the right open ground and a traditional pub. This great Norman built tower stands looking out on an ever changing Newcastle, full of history and stories. It is a must visit when in the city.

This a great place to visit. We went over Halloween weekend so there were extra events on in the castle delivered by the education team. Fantastic, knowledgeable people. Well worth a visit anyway, but even better with the on site experts .

I started coming to The Keep in 1957 at the age of 11 to do my Trainspotting from the top! Since that day I have become a Newcastle historian now aged 75 and still learning more. It only cost 6d to go in then but I still visit this marvelous building every time I come to Newcastle. I recommend this to any visitor to the city!
