Do not assume that you can use the bar / restaurant facilities during your stay. We booked 9 rooms for our extended family over three nights. Our group included a toddler, a great grandmother in a wheelchair and a person with limited mobility in his 50s. We decided to stay here rather than a better location on The Strand as it had all the facilities we needed without having to leave the site. We attended a lovely wedding on site on the Friday. We had our own private centre for this and everything was perfect. But on the Saturday we found we couldn’t use the bar or restaurant due to other weddings / functions using these facilities (not the separate facilities like we used, but the shared facilities of bar and restaurant) . We had to catch taxis into town to eat and our limited mobility members could not attend. We then had the same problem at dinner! We couldn’t even just have a drink at the bar as even the bar area was booked out. The staff suggested options of; eating in our rooms ($10 charge for room service), outside our rooms (no tables to do this), then in reception area which is an uninspiring waiting area with options of facing the car park, a wall with Sky TV on, or the reception desk. Not an inviting space by any means. In the end they did create a space for us by moving the games area and setting up the chairs and side tables from the waiting area for us, which was positioned nicely with a view of the pool and bar area. It was a nice space, although it did mean we had to eat our dinner on our laps! The staff WERE nice in setting this up (apart from one lady in the bar), however we only got this space because we complained. I feel that people need to be aware that they cannot just assume that they can eat or drink at this venue. It was very disappointing.

Staff were very helpful and approachable, rooms were clean and well presented, but definitely tired looking and in need of work. Bathtub/shower was set high and had to be very careful getting in and out. Bed was comfortable and linen was clean. Air-conditioning worked well. Buffet breakfast in the restaurant was delicious. The gardens and grounds are beautifully kept. Location was close to lots of fast food places and shopping complexes. For the price, I would probably not stay again.

Great location. Walking distance to food and shops. Close to the airport. The pool was amazing for the kids. A lot of possums running around at night. The rooms were really nice, well kept and clean. Wish we had spent more time here. Would definitely go back if we visit Townsville again.
