Mayfield Surgery stoke-on-trent

Generally good doctors, poor reception staff Been with this doctors since I can remember, find most of the doctors and other medical staff to be very good. The main downside to this place is the rude and generally unhelpful reception staff. They really do think they are someone. Let me give an example. Elderly lady stands to be spoken to at the reception window for about 4 to 5 mins then gets fed up at being ignored and polity taps to get some attention. Reception opens window and says can I help! Lady says I'd like to check in. Reception says you can do it at the touchscreen over the other side of the room. Lady says I don't know how to and thought you could help. Reception in an aggressive manner asks for the ladies name, then tells her to take a seat. Why not just do the job right and help someone who may not be familiar with new technology. When you phone up they take an age to answer, once hung on for 20 mins after missing a call from them only to be told it was a mix up that they called me. Useless

My Mother was taken to hospital on Saturday with swelling to the face, tongue and throat. We found out that she was allergic to Ramipril and ibuprofen. She was on Ramipril due to a heart attack last year. They took her off it immediately and told us to make an appointment to see the GP as soon as possible. She tried a few times during the week, too no avail and the receptionist being very snippy and rude. We called tonight, explained what had happened and she told us the 4th June. When we said it needed to be done as soon as possible, that we'd been trying to get an appointment all week, she said to call back on Monday to see if there was a cancellation. Mother explained that it was an important medication that she needed and that she'd been at the surgery all her life the receptionist just laughed. Absolutely disgusted. Formal complaint seems to be in order. The receptionist was very, very rude and very unhelpful. We're going to be speaking to the Practice Manager to make a formal complaint.

I have been with this practice for 32 years. We are moving out of the area very soon and my worry is will we find a practice as good as this one. Most GP's are under great pressure these days, but even then the staff here have always gone the extra mile to help. I hope we can find a practice as good as this one in our new location.

Too many patients... Rang for an appointment and was told it would take 4 weeks unless I had an emergency which I did, was then told it would take 2 1/2 weeks for an emergency appointment.

Receptionist extremely rude

Why is 0 Stars not an option. Worst GP in Staffordshire by a country mile, Rude Staff, Pathetic attitude to customer service. Do yourself a favor go to a walk in, at least you will be treated with some decorum. If you go to the local hospital they roll their eyes when you tell them this is your doctors practice, if that doesn't tell you how pathetic they are I don't know what will. The McCarthy Snrs would be turning in their grave.

Good luck trying to get through on the phone. You are taken to a recorded message telling you when the phone lines will be open. They should be open at 8am on a Monday. The time is now 8.30 and they are STILL not answering. It is Monday and I have been ringing repeatedly since 8am. This is not a new problem. It has been like this for at least 2 years. I am picking up forms from Belgrave Medical Centre to switch Drs this morning. Your health is important. You may have serious conditions that are not being addressed because of inaccessibility to a GP. I heartily recommend changing Drs asap.

Are you suffering a mild ailment? Or maybe dying? Look elsewhere for aid; absolutely useless as GPs go. Expect to be told, day after day, "call back tomorrow, we're full today". Following a 75+ minute wait on their useless phone, to rude, careless staff. Just dial 111. You can expect more sympathy and help.

The reviews that I have read, have not been the experience I have always received for Mayfield surgery. All the staff have been extremely helpful and the Drs and nurses professional and caring. I would never go anywhere else.
