Phenomenal care, the girls are caring, kind, efficient and helpful in all departments. I received such good service, with cups of tea, sandwiches, biscuits and even a footstool to help with nursing positions. Thank you, all 4 birth experiences (though none of them to plan) went smoothly, while still keeping autonomy over my choices.

The maternity assessment unit let me down and their mistakes caused my still birth at 41 weeks of a healthy pregnancy. They failed to bring me in despite me telling them my temperature was low, they should have recognised this as a sign of sepsis. I later went in to septic shock and am lucky to be alive. I’m told the midwife team are trained on recognising low temperature as a sign of sepsis, however have also been told that the two midwives I spoke to clearly made a mistake. There were also other failures in my care, too many to list here unfortunately. The hospital has admitted this through the investigation, im promised that improvements will be made however we will have to see. My consultant was brilliant, but I have to be honest and write this post. Do not rely on the midwives here after my experience, at least not when calling the maternity assessment unit. The phone line seems to not be managed or monitored v well and seems too easy for midwives to make mistakes and give incorrect advice, and then the hospital to apologise later for something as huge as a still birth and life threatening state for you. Be your own midwife, you can never trust or rely on them is what I’ve sadly learned.

Really Thankful to Maternity staff of Queen Elizabeth . They are so well trained to make you feel at ease in these hard times . Though the followup appointments after birth i was upset to be put to wait for 4 hours with Newborn, later realised they could be busy helping someone in situation my wife was . Times like these you realise how much of a blessing Nhs is

Nice staff, bug building, separate department. People greets with very nice gesture. Helping people to guide the things. Easy to reach. One can take mcgill 23 number bus from city center. There is separate parking for maternity unit. Maternity unit is behind the main hospital building.
