Lovely, atmospheric experience. My husband loves the beautiful and well kept golf courses, while I enjoy both their afternoon teas and the spa with my grown up daughters. So a win win all round. Would definitely recommend to anyone considering a visit. Five stars

Oh dear. What happened here fellas? It seems management is more concerned with a bottom line than actual service these days. My niece and I travelled from Glasgow and Birmingham to visit this place once nostalgically associated with our home in Beds/Herts. We spent a significant amount of money to go for dinner, stay and spa with massage. Aside from the lovely new lady on reception who was a delight, dinner was a showing of little staff (Saturday of fathers day) with little care or attention (I have memories of quite the opposite in the past!) One even saying he refused to pour our water because he wanted to 'minimise contact'..well putting the bottle down for us to pick up is precisely the opposite of that, but thanks lad. The room itself was fine, spacious and the bed comfy. Several spiders spotted around the room and clearly someone stopped paying the 10 or so groundskeepers required for the grounds since everything was overgrown and/or dead. Thankfully, you'll be pleased to know breakfast was average. To top it off, our spa trip was a bland welcome followed by a last minute cancellation of our massage with nothing but a sorry. If your staff are calling in sick on fathers day...youre not treating them well...just a thought! Anyway, we didn't want to take any of this out on the poor overworked and under valued staff, so we took to email our complaint. We received a measly 10% back each (yes, apparently the massage was cheaper than your average premier inn one...) I was hoping not to have to write this review and chalk it up to a busy week, but clearly management are running the place to nothing. Unless you're just heading for a game of golf and a basic meal at Adam's, I'd spend your hundreds literally anywhere else.
