A bit over priced and the cake texture is a bit dense. I prefer a lighter spongier cake. Some interesting flavors but the cake mixture could be better.

Great quirky wee cafe with excellent cakes, great coffee, plus an array of small gift items. They also stock amazing sourdough bread which they make into toasties and sarnies on site, but you can also buy loaves of to take home with you.

One of my favorite laid back breakfast places for the fringe. Colorful guests, friendly staff load of choice for the cakes. Good coffee slightly off Grassmarket, this avoiding the worst tourist crowds. try one of the cakes, you will not regret it.

Lovecrumbs is by far one of my favourite places to get great quality coffee and cakes near the old town. Their vegan chocolate and rose cake is one of the best cakes I have ever eaten, so shout-out to Nice Times Bakery for supplying them. The staff are always very attentive. They usually get super busy during the lunch time, so if you are planning on grabbing the seat on the window that everyone is after, I recommend visiting early in the morning.

Super cute place, and great coffee. However not the best service. I came a weekday morning and the spot was not crowded, and yet they forgot half my order (twice I had to go back up to the counter to remind them I had X..). So cute and friendly place, worth a visit. But not great service.

Used to love that place. There's a unique window spot that's so cozy and great for reading your book while people watching. Problem is, they've decided to focus on profit and issue a max 1 hour stay policy. While ordering some more of the nice pastries I was asked to be leaving soon... after that couldn't even focus on my book anymore, feeling unwelcome. I asked about on the way out about the new policy, they didn't seem fussed of turning away a loyal customer for good. Don't think I'll go there unless desperate anymore, can't even relax and read your book there for a while anymore.
