Lion Yard is fairly tidy and pleasant. But you go for the shops more than the centre. And that's about as much as you would expect.

Reasonable prices. Gifts for all occasions and friendly staff. I ordered spices. There is a rack of over 30 different spices for exotic cooking. Also, you can find cooking utensil. Everyone including students should visit this shop at least once a month. You'll find something you need at an affordable price.

The Lion Yard is a lovely bit of Cambridge, full of fun shops and centuries of eclectic architecture. But, don't look there for the midsummer Chronophage II artful techno timepiece. That, despite all the publicity I've seen, is in the adjacent giant shopping mall.

I always like coming here and much prefer it to The Grand Arcade. I can always rely on The Lion's Yard to feel at home in Cambridge. Even the public toilets as they're still where they should be. Useful. A good range of shops. Well lit. Clean. Central location. I miss the lovely red lion statue 'though.
