My son went in for an tooth filling today but was sent home without it done because the hospital booking team had mistakenly booked him in the adult restorative department( could they not read his DOB ?? )when he should have been booked in the child's dental department , well tough luck that’s not our fault why should my son suffer !! he had waited over 5 months for this appointment and had 3 infections within the waiting time it really needed fixing and was in pain today prior to having an infection AGAIN !! he hadn’t ate for days bcoz of the severe pain he was suffering but Mr AF Speirs wouldn’t go through with the filling and infection removal procedure because THEY'RE booking team had made the MISTAKE and knowing this still my son was not treated . I’m very very disappointed with the decision MR AF SPEIRS and team made , how could you turn down a child knowing he is in agony and pain when you could have eased his pain in minutes and knowing it wasn’t his fault . NHS appointment wasted and my work plus travel time too til the next appointment . My dentist practice who referred us is also not happy at all she will be making a formal complain herself , this is not exceptional , MR AF SPEIRS could have gone through with the procedure of removing my sons infection and filling it in , it wasn’t a big deal , I really don’t know why he chose not to do it . It was quite straight forward procedure and we had an appointment for it to be done so all was prepared before hand ready to be done this appointment could have been saved and the next one . I just hope my son is given another appointment ASAP but experiencing what happened today I don't think anyone really cares . We will just have to wait and see .

My daughter was referred to the Leeds Dental Institute by our dentist in July 2018. I chased this referral every month or so up until Christmas and was advised they could see her on the waiting list and I should receive an appointment within the next 4-6 weeks. (I was told this in December) Yesterday, 6th Feb 2019, I received a letter stating my daughter failed to attend an appointment on the 18th Jan and failed to attend a procedure on the 31st Jan 2019, which came from Huddersfield Max-Fax dept. This was the first communication I had received in regards to this. I called the Dental Institute who were little to no help and said 'she was discharged on medical grounds' and couldn't provide any further information. It is now coming up to 9 months since her original referral and we have been told we have to go back to our dentist and start the process again. All the while, her teeth are deteriorating... I am appalled at the lack of communication and disappointed in the lack of ownership of my daughters care. To say you are 'improving communications' on your automated message is a joke!!

My 10 year old daughter had been under the care of Leeds Dental Hospital for two years. During this time the admin team managed to loose her in the system twice resulting in having to wait months for urgent appointments. Some of the reception and admin staff are very poorly trained and good only knows how they actually managed to get the job, must be someones relative! terrible telephone manner and couldn't care lees attitude when you ring. I escalated matters to their seniors but they didn't care either. Consultants and their secretaries play god and never call you back until chased and chased. Thoroughly stressful experience. My daughter was very anxious about her pending treatment as she was being admitted for surgery and had never been in hospital before, made worse by endless waiting and cocked up dates. The departments do not communicate between each other and have no idea what each other is doing so patients get caught in the chaos of their confusion. It's a shame because when she did actually get admitted for her surgery the staff that day were excellent, very caring and attentive. It's such a shame the process of getting to that day was so awful.

Had an appointment that had to be cancelled as I legally had to isolate due to being contacted by test and trace refused to rebook and put me to the bottom of waiting lists. Unfair as it was not my fault I was unable to make the appointment. Legally I had to stay at home.

Appalling service. Referral rejected twice despite providing additional information as requested by Leeds dental institute. When I called to query this I was met by a rude, obnoxious attitude by a rude male who continuously displayed aggressiveness in his tone and was rude throughout the call. Avoid this place at all costs. Especially if you’re from an ethnic minority !

Rejected my referral from Leeds Urgent Dentant Centre without contacting me or providing any explanation. The referral was to look for neuralgia. They did not inform me that the referral was rejected. I had to find out myself. I was waiting to hear from them for many months. My dental problem has made me acutely suicidal. I don't know what to do.
